Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.
I never mentioned the games DX/Mantle performance, nor was I ever specifically talking about them. My post was that your statement in response to someone talking about it was worrying, and the implications that go with it.
That was also my point yes, Civ is one game, there are still only a handful of mantle titles (not even a handful), so are all nonmantle games going to get left out in the cold, or what happens if a particular user has an issue with mantle, like on 7*** series cards
It is exactly that approach to customer support that ended up with me selling of all my GCN1 cards
You do no that it's only bf4 on 7000 series that have issues with mantle. Other ganes work perfectly fine, thief, pvz. Don't make it out because of bf4 the issue is wider.
It's now called a handful? It used to be just one, what will it be called next year when even more drop?
You might need a basket to carry them.

A quick google for gcn1 type cards, problems and mantle in the games you mention reveals a stuttering problem and no mention of it being fixed - i held on to my 7970m hoping mantle would breathe some life in to it, but thief was the game that broke my resolve
So no, lack of proper support for older gcn cards is not limited to one game
Well I know my little bro uses one of my old 7950 on both them games and runs the perfectly fine.
Andy you should know by now a Google search will make any issue look worse then it really is.
280x GCN1 Mantle Ultra PVZ setting, see no stutter here

I had the issue, it wasnt fixed in the timeframe beofre I gave up. You said there were *No* issues outside of BF4. It is great that some people dont get issues, but it also sucks for those that do. And in that case, where you cant use mantle for some reason, having a viable fall back would be nice. The official response above though seems to be that dx support is irrelevant and if you get a mantle issue then shrug shoulders and blame the developer.
I understand matt's position, he wants to sell 290's, but then what happens to 290 users when 390's come out?
I've not seen any results on the new drivers, would be interested to see. As yes, the results posted so far show problems like a 40% deficit in performance, or negative crossfire scaling
According to anadtech, they Did use 14.9.2, so the deficit and negative scaling are present in the CURRENT drivers
The link to the article is in the Op, directx crossfire results, 10% Positive scaling on average result, negative scaling on minimum fps
97fps vs 107fps = working fine? That is 10% scaling at 1080p
And 49fps for a single card, 44fps for crossfire
Lower minimums happens at all resolutions
Not sure what shadow of mordor has to do with this thread, sli works fine for me in that though :/
Gather them straws up from the floor andy.
We get it, anything AMD and you **** all over it with a passion.![]()
If there was an nvidia rep on the forum I would ask them about sli issues
No, I really don't. I do sometimes challenge statements presented as fact in shining support of everything Amd do.
If there was an nvidia rep on the forum I would ask them about sli issues, there's an AMD rep in this thread fielding questions, so i asked one only for shankly to tell me there was nothing wrong with scaling, and when shown that he was wrong I get personal attacks fielded at me
