confirming i am now a grumpy old man with all that includes.
the old man was a pc tech (and manager of CDC in Brisbane) when there were still old style mainframes. hard disk drives have been in use for a long long time. they even had them 'back then' in the 70's. he worked for Control Data Corporation. If you watch the movie "Die Hard" there is a scene where there are mainframes with Control Data Corp written on them. (1988) it wasnt that long ago.
..off on a tangent but yeh he had his nose in a PC magazine most of the time after he retired.
