And another new way to nick your car...

Vertigo1 sounds like the type to say "I dont need to read the book, I can tell everything about it just from the cover"! :D

You put your keys in the same pocket as your phone? What is wrong with you! :p

Occasionally. If I only have two pockets and I have my phone, wallet and keys to carry then something has to give. Phone and keys are the smallest items so the most comfortable to put in the same pocket, the phone is in a 'sock' type cover so still protected from scratches.

If someone wants your car there going to nick it .Doesn't matter if it keyless or not.

Do some you guys think cars where not stolen before keyless entry was around ?

Not necessarily. Most thieves will give up if it looks difficult, they get disturbed or it's taking too long.

Pretty much. If a thief wants your car, they'll figure it out. I doubt too many car thefts are spur of the moment "hey lets nick this car" so they probably come prepared.

Well I was glad I didn’t have keyless entry with my car due to the security aspect.

Can’t say putting the key in is a big problem and I usually use the key to unlock and pop the boot at the same time.

I like the system on F series onwards BMWs and Minis - as standard it has keyless start which is convenient but doesn't have keyless entry, you still need to press the physical fob to unlock the car.

Are our traffic monitoring systems not good enough to spot trends of two cars being used in different parts of the country at the same time?

I think you're putting a bit too much faith in technology there. An ANPR marker will cause the car to be flagged if it drives past a camera, but there has to be manual intervention and a reason for actually looking for that car.

Loads of home bargain type places and pound shops sell tobacco tins, just put your keys in one overnight, voila, Faraday cage for 99p

I think the audis are working the same way, im getting keyless go as standard, I believe this means that I still need to unlock the car but i can just press the start button once in
I believe the convenience key option adds the keep it in your pocket when approaching the car level of convenience

Love not having to find my keys to get into a car, made sure I've had it on every car since I first had it on my m5, it's just too convenient.

Found a little ornamental tin/aluminium box we were given on our honeymoon (think it had welcome/leaving cookies in it haha) which fits my key perfect.

Tried it next to and in the car and it blocked the signal perfectly.

The decreased security is a very minor thing too unless you own an exotic car. There’s a lot of hyperbole in this thread. Not having keyless entry isn’t going to stop someone who wants to steal a car, they’ll just find another way like breaking into your house and running you over when you try to stop them.

The pool of people willing to commit full on home invasion is less than those willing to fiddle about in a dark driveway/carpark with a laptop, so yes it is likely will stop someone stealing your car.

Are people who use remote central locking also worried about people copying the keys when they're locking/unlocking the car?

Generally when I'm unlocking my car I'm awake and able to notice a random waving an amplifier at me.

Funny to see expensive brand new cars having to go to the length of fitting one of these nowadays lol
