And here she is ......

I don't think you'll have near 300bhp at the moment you know mate. With only an exhaust, it's probably around the 280bhp mark. Unless it's PPP'd??? But it doesn't seem to be by it's selling description.

Springs, massive choice, what do you want, handling, stance, comfort ?

Mine is on Prodrive springs, which are very compliant and just the lower height makes it FEEL so much more capable around the corners. They're actually softer than standard.

350bhp mark.. me I'd go full 3" decat from turbo back, Harvey Smith Ported Headers and uppipe, fuel pump, and a TD05-18g turbo (rated to around 380bhp..) and of course the remap.

it has the PPP pack :)

If you've got the PPP then great, just change the turbo and get a remap :D

And if you want a bit more, change the headers etc. If I were you right now, I'd sort the springs, some gauges, and learn how to reach it's limits (which are high as I'm sure you've found out..)

Springs, it would be nice to keep the comfort and the fact i can enjoy over not such good road surfaces .... Where would i be able to get the prodrive springs from ? I see a lot of eibach kits around for the £150 mark which offer a 20mm drop

TSL offer a 333 package which looks as if it consists of just a remap ? What would you say are the costs of 350 bhp are ?

The front tyres were a little low when i collected it and ive managed to pretty much finish them off this weekend ;) so there first on the list so The power upgrades wont be going on untill around august / september so plenty of time to get used to the car. Springs and gauges will be fitted before my ring trip in july.

At the moment its running bridgestone RE050 all round, do you think i should replace the fronts with these or get a diffrent type ?

Sooo many questions :D

Fancy making a vid to silence the non-beleivers?

I have been pretty much set on a VX as my next car, but your experiences have ade me reconsider, will be following your progress with this car closely!

You can get the Prodrive springs from Subaru, bit more expensive than the Eibachs, but made by Eibach. Just slightly softer. If I didn't buy mine with them on, I'd have just gone for the normal Eibachs.

Well if you remap right now, with doing nothing, you will effectively have the TSL 333 Package. So ~£600 depending on where you go, you'll get around 330+bhp.

Any more, and you'll want to change the turbo (you choose the price, brand new second hand etc) but I'll say £700 for a good turbo which will easily see over 350bhp.
But then I'd go for those Harvey Smith Ported headers and up pipe. They make less power than stainless steel headers, but have got better response due to the smaller piping. Good for up to 400bhp, and a not too bad price either. So for over 350bhp.. you need remap, turbo, manifold/headers. Go for second hand parts and I'd say £1500..

Basically anything over the 330bhp mark and you need a lot more money.

I will try to get a decent video in the week for you

The VX220 is a good car but i just dont think its worth owning one as your only car. Ok so its good to pose in when the suns out and its pretty damm good on petrol (often saw 200 miles from £30) but i felt that to get the most out of it you had to be on a track. I spent £3500 on that car in thre 9 months i owned it and i did under 5000 miles in it. Sure i bought some pretty expensive parts but they had to be replaced none the less ....

+ I would never EVER buy another turbo, the SHOCKING paint issue has put me off for life. I paid £1150 to have the car sorted out before sale and spending money on an issue because of the cars shoddy build quality is heart breaking especially since i went to see vauxuall who had there paint inspector look and it only to tell me they would not do anything as it had not been serviced at a vauxuall dealership all its life and also because i was not the first owner

RE tyres... RE050s are standard on the WRX. May as well kill off the set and get some nice Vredesteins or Eagle Assymetrics (sp??) Toyo T1Rs get good reviews on scoobs too.

Very nice indeed

I had a TSL Firestorm on mine, epic sound :D

Video going up this week sometime, i keep finding myself putting the windows down as soon as i find the car in a tunnel / going past tall walls etc just to hear that sound :D

Cheers mate :) Only thing that worrys me slightly is the fact my mates pulsar seems to litrally rip the rubber off his T1Rs :\ and by the look of this weekend the scoob eats tyres too

The rears are pretty much brand new so looks like ill be going for some more RE050s hmmm

Need to find some time to fiddle with that DCCD button too, big open empty carpark me thinks :)

lovely car sam! not for me unfortunately never have been a fan of the looks. So many new cars on here this week alone, recession what recession.

The 333 package is pushing the limit of the VF35 turbo, and you'll be lucky if you actually get 333bhp of usable power - I would guess the map only delivers that at about 7000rpm.

350 means at the very least, a new turbo - expect to pay £1300ish plus fitting - less if you're happy with a second-hand one. Mapping will be about £600 the first time, as you'll need to pay the unlock fee. Note that each tuner tends to unlock it for themselves, not for you. Meaning a change in tuner means a new unlock fee. Later mapping will be about £200 a shot. You might want to think about replacing the first cat with a proper sports cat, and you might want to think about new induction (£180ish) - again, 350 is pushing the limit of the standard intake.

To be certain of 350, I'd say turbo, induction, injectors (£400-500) and mapping. And assume you'll get less than you expect.

The standard induction is good for 400+ bhp, the Type 25 uses it..
The STi injectors are easily capable of 350bhp as well..!

Taken from Andy Forrest's website:

"MY 01 onwards WRX uses 380cc – MY 01 STI uses 500cc – the 500cc injectors are rated at up to 400 bhp. Upgraded injectors are available in many capacities typically
550cc for up to 440 bhp –
650cc for up to 520 bhp and
740cc up to 590 bhp."

He's got a PPP also, so the exhaust is fine. Sam would do just fine with a new turbo, panel filter, and mapping. Would make plenty of power, easily over 350bhp

Impreza's are amazing cars, totally understand why you prefer it to the VX :) No point in me even saying to make sure you have fun!

Very nice, congrats. You need a remap, lowering springs and Defi's in there asap
Not liking the black wheels, they need to be gold! Each to their own, I know exactly how you feel driving it, especially coming up to tunnels......damn I miss that noise!!
