And Lewis Hamilton wins his 8th Championship!

The dream is looking well over now. He'll never have a chance of doing it now unless he moves to Redbull or Ferrari or Aston. He'll never work with Alonso or Max/Horner, so that leaves Ferrari which seems unlikely since they have stability with two good drivers. I can't see Lewis staying with Merc until the next Reg changes in a few years where another "reset" will occur.

Like history shows us, we are in for Redbull domination for a fair while now. Williams, Ferrari, Merc, Mclaren have all been there before. It's Redbull's turn again now. I can see Max winning the next 3 championships taking him to 5. Whether he will surpass Lewis will depend on the next reg change and what teams manage to bring to the table. If they fail again, Max could go on to beat the record sadly.

Sad times. Although funnily enough Alonso's performance last race gave me hope that even if it takes 2-3 years for Merc to get it together, Hamilton would still have the abilities if the car was there.

But that said, this is exactly why Hamilton fans are still pee'd about 2021. Had he won that 8th then, it would have been history made, no question he is the greatest driver ever and it would have been a fair handover of the baton to Verstappen last year (well, besides the cost-cap shenans). I'd imagine even Hamilton with his ridiculous competitiveness would have eventually sat back and said "you know what guys, I'm done. I'll continue to race because I love it, but I'll be happy in the midfield for now. Life's good." Big sigh.

Leclerc and Sainz contract is for this season and next . Horner would never have him at RB so it’s Merc all the way . At 38 he’s not going anywhere else until he retires so Merc need to deliver the winning car again for him .

Personally I would loved to have seen him at Ferrari and won just to prove everyone wrong , including myself. However i just can’t see him winning another race under normal conditions ( maybe rain, mass pile ups or numerous DNF’s ) and his driving abilities and wins will be down to a massively dominating car with an inferior team mate .

The thing is, the best always end up in the fastest cars and generally have "inferior" team mates. However in Lewis' case you can argue he's had quite a few who are no slouch (Alonso, Button, Rosberg and now Russell) and he's raced all with equal treatment.

Its actually where he looks much better compared to drivers like Schumacher (Brundle, Patrese, Herbert, Irvine, Barrichello, Massa, Rosberg) and Verstappen (Sainz Jr, Ricciardo, Gasly, Albon, Perez).

I think you could argue the only driver to have had better team mates overall is Prost (Lauda, K Rosberg, Senna, Mansell, Hill, among others).
