Android 5.1 is Here

N7 2012 has Nvidia, N7 2013 has Qualcomm. Chipsets shouldn't matter for a company of Google's size. They all seem to have ARM tech underneath anyway.
N9 is a poor tablet for the price, probably didn't sell well so its not their priority.

I agree with you that Chipset shouldn't matter. That was my point.

N9 is good for £200 which is what you can get it for. And it's a Nexus, so they have to update it no matter what.

The denver core in the Nexus 9 uses an ARM instruction set but is completely designed by nvidia (so when optimizing and developing to better utilize the chip it will be different to i.e. a chip from Qualcomm)

Qualcomm use custom cores too on the 805 (N6).

And the Nexus line stands for quick updates. At the end of the day there's no excuse. And do we know for sure why the delay is or is it a guess?

Qualcomm have been used a lot more and for a lot longer (iirc Nexus One had a Qualcomm chipset) so the developers have a lot more experience working with Qualcomm than nVidia. But yeah I'm guessing within the next 2-3 weeks it'll arrive.
