Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) released

Wonder if there'll be a custom M rom for the note 2 I can try before I shell out for the 6P. Would love to have a play about with it, but there isn't even a stable L ROM out there for this phone. Will be buying the 6P next month once I can afford it and there are real world user feedback I can see.

Did you wipe? You should always do it on big updates.

I dirty updated from rooted stock (using NRT with no wipe and force flash) and it seems to have survived with no obvious issues. I'll keep an eye on standby battery life tonight.

The Barclays Mobile Banking app crashes on load, but it might be an incompatibility with Marshmallow (as I was rooted before I couldn't use it anyway, so it's probably just a case of waiting on them to update it). It's the only app I've seen not working so far though.

I'd normally wipe, but given I'm almost certain to have ordered a 6P, Z5P or X Style by year's end, I thought I'd try a dirty flash first, reverting to a nandroid backup and sticking with 5.1 if it didn't work out.

After flashing to 6, if I plug my Nexus 5 in via usb to my PC, I can no longer see the folders on the handset.

There is no folder structure, just blank.

I'm trying to put some images on my phone.

Bring down the notification shade, tap where it says "charging only" select mtp or the other option.

Hmm, ran this update on my Nexus 5, been on the boot screen (still moving) for about 5 mins..
edit

After about 7 mins, booted :D

Do the OTAs need to be flashed (with a wipe), or can they just be run over an existing install as if they had popped up as an available update?

Mine was wiped during the install. My firmware install knowledge is next to non though.

The Google restore took care of most things, besides my Angry Birds 2 savegame :o
