Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) released

I've had 6.0 on my Nexus 5 for a bit and I've regularly seen the battery emptied within half a day. Looks like WiFi is consuming all ly battery for some reason. Anyone got any ideas why? Are there any known issues with 6.0 and Wifi?

Have you tried a new battery?

Its not that, its happened since upgrading to 6.0

It doesn't happen every day, but quite regularly WiFi looks to have 'stuck on' or something and will consume 50% + of my battery usage.

I've had my Nexus 9 on Marshmallow for a couple of days now (OTA) and haven't seen any draining due to WIFI. It sits at home all day connected to wifi and battery drain while sitting idle is very low.

It might be an app that is somehow bypassing 'doze'? maybe an email client or something with push notifications?

I've had this same problem with the Nexus 5 and WiFi. From reading around, I fixed it by rebooting into safe mode, removing widgets, rebooting into normal mode and all is fine.

I have not attempted to add the widgets again but for me, this stopped the ridiculous WiFi usage.

It appears booting into safe mode does something that resolves it but the action with the widget is what a few others have tried and have reported some success - so I did it too!

On the face of it I seem to be getting some pretty substantial improvements in battery life on my Nexus 5 of around 20-30% more than usual since the update though I did notice that it took a day or so to optimize after install before seeing these gains.

Hows everyone else finding it

I'm really liking the update!

Battery life has definitely improved by about 20-30% for my n5

Really liking the new open app animation, a bit like the old ICS animation, makes the phone look a lot more "fluid"

Nice being able to finally remove/add the notification toggles and battery % at long last!

After installing 6.0 my free/available space went down to 12.5gb even though my phone is 32gb. WTF?!

Nexus 5 32gb

Edit

Fixed it

In general I am finding that my battery life has massively improved, but the top usage of my battery life since last charge says 36% to wifi! Seems a lot of others seeing the same thing.

Do you leave the Wifi on all the time? I always have a habit of turning everything off, that's why my battery life is always pretty good. :D

Still nothing on my Nexus 6 which is disappointing.

My old Nexus 5 that I sold to a friend got it on Monday 12th, as of Thursday 22nd still nothing. Odd. In fact I got the update to 5.1.1 AFTER he got 6.0.

Update to marshmallow a couple of weeks or so ago on my N5. Seemed to be good initially but a few niggles have appeared.

- the "do not disturb" option has been an issue - selecting it from settings tended to pull up the menu page then immediately go back to settings + then I started to find it to be in do not disturb mode spontaneously without me selecting it. Suspect this may be linked to a volume lock app I ran to prevent accidentaly turning volume down to zero which happened many times before I downloaded this app.

- wifi seems to switch on/off all the time - happens both if there's a signal or not.

- in lasy few days its started to think its taking a call whenever it pairs with a bluetooth device (either headphones or my car) and I have to "end" the "call" to get the audio to work.

one thing I've noticed with marshmallow which is irritating me is the navigation buttons seem to be more persistant than they were with LP.... they used to auto hide all the time but now seem to always be there. cant see an option to change this and not read anything about it
