Google's Sundar Pichai has confirmed that the next version of Android will be called Kit Kat, as in the candy bar.

I love Kit Kats. Morrisons were seling them at £1 for 4 4 finger bars but the offers finished :'(

Odd choice, considering it's a trademark, but I like it simply because it goes against what everyone assumed long ago it would be.

No need to fear about the trademark. Google clearly have been in talks with Nestle about this for sometime by the looks of things:

KitKat has been a favorite candy on the team for some time, so for the K release, we asked if they’d be willing to lend their iconic candy bar to its name.

Though it says on The Verge that Kit Kat is licensed by Hershey in the US. Interesting.

So... this is real? The next version of Android is KitKat? And 4.4 too... I'm expecting a nice big update, but still holo styled.
