Android O

Exactly. Such a simple mundane feature and yet missing from stock Android all these years.

I now it's available via the system UI turner but I shouldn't have to enable hidden settings and menus for something so useful and simple.
I'm on 7.0 on a Lenovo P2. I don't have UI tuner but I can,if I want,have the battery %age as a standalone notification.
I really don't know what the fuss is about

Question is what will be the launch device?

I don't think it'll be the Pixel 2.

Money is on Moto Z2 Force.

I would be surprised if Android O launched before the Pixel 2 releases. But I will watch out for it in the Moto Z2 Force if you are right.

Meanwhile, to me the important thing is that as Android O official release is now really close, we can expect official details to be released soon on the Pixel 2. I saw Tech Radar saying that the 2 will likely be the first to carry the Snapdragon 836 processor from Qualcomm, indicating at least a 10% performance improvement. Add to this the squeezable frame, possible awesome colours (again Tech Radar rumours from recent renders), better camera, etc, and the 2 is setting up to be a really great phone.

Was having a play with the 6P and Android O again last night, It makes me miss stock Android. Again. Hmmm.

You know it took Google years to get the correct date displayed on the calendar icon.....would I be correct in thinking it was due to an apple patent?

Just wondering if the clock icon will ever tell the right time.

Looks like Force will be a delayed Europe release so maybe.

It would be nice to see it launch on Pixel 2 but think O is almost ready for release and the Pixel HW isn't yet.

You say "Pixel HW isn't yet." I am not sure what this means and how reliable the statement is.

In any case, I would be surprised to see an official Pixel 2 release before late October (ie, 3 months) , similar to the launch last year of the first Pixels. The point I made in my earlier post still stands I believe, namely that we should soon receive official statements (rather than rumours and renders) about the Pixel 2s.

I'm saying the Pixel 2 won't be out before October as well. However Android O will be ready before that so there be be another new device launched to showcase O.

Might be another LG..

Hmmm....maybe, but I am still expecting O to be released by Google with the Pixel, despite LG working with Google on the Pixel 2XL.

Meanwhile, more rumours about the Pixel 2 ditching the headphone jack and if so, hopefully with better tech to connect to a wireless headphone.

The single best feature has to be the removal of those silly bean emoticons!

Does anyone know if you can change the colour of the quick toggle settings back to black? Not sure I like the off white colour theme. In fact, I think it looks bloody awful. Hopefully it won't made the final version.

Thanks.

It will, there was an interview with Android design devs a while back stating the reason for the off white colouring was to keep things consistent above all else. You can of course theme them back to whatever you prefer with system themes/substratum etc, none of which require root.

Android O is officially launching next week, by the way. Expect OTAs for Pixels immediately after.
