Android O

Not really sure how many Pixel C users there are out there still.

Well they've sold at least 3 on here that we know of and that I can remember... hope we're not the only ones in the UK! Still say this is one of the greatest white elephants I've EVER bought... just gutted I couldn't get a Chromebook Pixel as well while they were still floating around.

Had the betas on since release and it's improved quite a bit since the initial releases. Update from the final beta to the the release version was only about 12MB, although it did take about 20 minutes to decide what it was doing and that it would actually do it. I've not done a reset yet, although I might do, but everything (mostly) seems to behave so far without issue, apart from the Kindle app, which seems to regularly shut itself with a crash report.

Leaving the Pixel XL for now, as I can't break the VPN token app for work.

rumors around that there may be a new pixel chromebook coming.. but only rumors for now. the 2015 model is indeed a lovely bit of kit

Been waiting an age for this update to the Force X - any bit issues with it so far? Not had a great experience with other Lenovo Android updates, the 7.1.1 update to the OH's Moto Z killed 128GB SD card support.

None so far, seems to be working fine.
Although I may do a reset tonight as my phone has generally been getting a little clunky over the last few weeks, but then it's got 18 months worth of crap stored up.

Same as Tom - no issues at all. I'm finding it seems more responsive and I really like the additions to the editing of the notification bar (though I'd like them to have left the date in with the single rather than double swipe down). Also odd that GPS requires unlock whereas before it didn't, but you still don't need to unlock to turn on/off WiFi or Aeroplane mode. I'd like them all to require a lock, or to be able to choose what needs to be unlocked, but there are work-arounds, just not as fluid as their inbuilt system. You can also no longer define the date range for data useage - only allows a breakdown by month - which is a shame as it's useful to keeping track of data useage in different countries if travelling.

There's also a hidden 'night time' feature, basically just reduces the blue light, but you need to download a separate app to then get access to that feature.

All in all, I'm liking the split screen modes and the new notification formats. Not noticed anything else really, but seems good.

Pixel > BMW iDrive5 = Google Play Music & Spotify do not play through car speakers. Telephone calls work only when someone calls me, not when I call them

and the most complained about on the forums using android N was bluetooth disconnects which I suffer from in the car (probably 50% of the time) and my portable JAM speaker around 25% of the time

It did it on my oneplus 3 and galaxy s6 so not just with the Pixel
That's strange, I use multiple android devices with my iDrive and no issues at all streaming music. Could it be an issue with iDrive? (as in, have you had anything work with it?)

iPhone works 100% of the time

of all the android phones I've tested, everything is great on Nougat apart from the pairing issues sometimes. Once it's paired it's fine, but it's shame I can't simply jump in the car and have it working first time. Oreo has been (and still is) a pain.

I've done a factory reset and will repair again later today just to see if that works. Perhaps something from the beta was left over, stale cache for example.

and google, can you have a word with the google keep team please. They haven't updated to the new dynamic icon api
Do you mean this interaction?

Go into settings (not the proper settings, the settings icon next to the wallpaper and widgets one), and change the icons to anything other than system default. You can change the icons to squares, teardrops etc etc

To be honest, google keep isn't part of the operating system but you would have thought with it being a google app they would have designed the icons

I'd be very disappointed if they STILL haven't got bluetooth sorted on 8. How many years is it going to take them. Spotify in the car is a must for me.
If it doesn't work later today when I'm driving home I will reevaluate my options.

Bluetooth on my Pixel XL has been mostly stable on my Logitech receiver at home, but with my Jam headphones it's a total mess (on Nougat and Oreo). I was on the tube today and it was skipping so much I gave up. The S8 I have has no trouble at all in comparison. So it points to the Pixel being the problem, but it might be something to do with what it's sending the audio to as well. I'm not sure, I don't know enough about how it works.

And for those of us who have not moved yet to wireless headphones, I am hoping the rumours of a Google Assistant-powered wireless headphone are true (posted earlier) because they would have absolutely no excuse for anything other than a perfect Bluetooth connection!

I've been running BT headphones on numerous Android phones for the last 5 years or so and never had any problems other than the odd interference crackle. I'm surprised to hear it's such an issue to be honest.
