Android Phone upgrade from Samsung S4

I am still using a Samsung Galaxy S4.

In terms of speed I don't have any big issues, a little faster would be better, but I don't have to be at the cutting edge.

My main issue is the small storage capacity. Yes, you can have an SD Card. Some apps use it well. Spotify stores all the downloaded music on the SD Card without you even telling it. However, even after I have moved all the apps you can move to the card, I am still short with 8GB.

I want a phone with 64GB plus, ideally 128G.

Would you persist with Samsung, or are there better choices for Android phones out there now? I don't want an edge screen and I don't want a smaller screen than that of the S4. Other than that I am not super picky.

I paid £250 for the S4, it had already been out for a while. What would you go for in my position and for a similar budget?

Ideally it should also be a phone that is not likely to catch fire. You know, just a quirk of mine...I don't mind if that means it charges slowly.

128GB S6 Edge can be had for around £300, possibly a little less if you look around.

Edit - should read OP fully. "Don't want an edge". Though I think a previous generation Samsung/Sony/HTC flagship would be the best way to go.

I'd be looking at a Xiaomi although it only has 32GB onboard storage with MicroSD card or dual SIM option. I'm not quite up to date with what they have available but the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 gets good reviews and is available for around £125 although you could also expect to pay an additional £25 import VAT and £12-15 handling charge on top.

Edit: forgot to mention that because it doesn't support the 800Mhz band for 4G it's not one to buy if you're with o2 or giffgaff or other providers that piggy back on o2.

I'm still on an S4 as well. I'm waiting to see if the guys who ordered their Xiaomi Mi A1 phones from China are liking them. If they do, I think I'm going to pull the trigger.
