Android Q Beta

Anyone tried the new gestures? Kinda funky but takes a bit of getting used to..

Yep I enabled them last night. It's really nice switching between apps when you're already in one but opening the app switcher from your home screen is clunky. I like how thin the sliver is at the bottom of the screen and there is no ridiculously sized safe area that you see on iPhones.
One thing I should point out is that my SIM has completely stopped working and there have been similar issues reported by users on reddit. I'm going to get an e-sim pack from EE at lunchtime and hope this fixes the issue.

Don't go into the eSIM options on a Pixel 3 running the Q Beta 3 - had fun last night trying to get it to pick up my SIM card again after that. Ended up wiping and going back to Pie but there are solutions for it.

I am loving the new gestures, finally I have a good deal of my screen back and it's not wasted on the pill and back button. I would like to see the thin sliver go also and just have the floating bar, or not at all. So far it's a good step in the right direction for me.

A few teething issues with 'back' and trying to get into the side tray but I imagine they'll be worked out quite quickly. I am missing the rotate icon which appeared though.

Heads up if you're a Santander customer, their online banking app thinks your device is rooted if you're running the Q beta as I've just found out.

Gpay works though.

Have you tried Santander on Beta 3? Wanting to get Q but want access to my mobile banking

Hehe that's what happened to me. Switching to an e-sim worked for me and my phone signal is stable now.

Apparently the fix for the SIM issues...

  1. Search in settings for Operator and click on it
  2. Click on Operator
  3. Click on SIM card
  4. After a few seconds it should connect again

The new gesture is taking some getting used to. Accessing app switched takes a bit of practice, seems to consistently work if you move the bar up about 1" and stop.

Thats exactly how it works on iOS! Good to see Google are still copying Apple! :D

At least the dark mode seems to look better on this version. Before it was just black but they seem to be using dark greys now which is much more friendly on the eye.

Early indications are that Google are moving the game on a bit with this release. Decent gestures and dark mode would certainly make me happy.

Google Pay isn't working on DP3, Play Store status is not certified. SafetyNet passed now the CTS profile match has updated. Hopefully Google update Google Play Services so I can use my phone to pay for stuff again. I can still use my watch though thankfully!

First world problems.....

Is anyone else noticing screen brightness increasing by about 20% when opening Watsapp? It's the only app I've noticed it in so far.

I've noticed a weird issue with WhatsApp notification on the lock screen flickering.

I've not noticed that issue (P3XL)

Also noticed the chrome loading bar doesn't animate now, and the dark mode on the calendar app is a joke, it's literally just the loading screen! I like it elsewhere though, Photos it works well on.
