Any reviews out on this? I love Civilization games, alpha century, and futuristic settling looks cool, not played any anno games yet so i don't really know what to expect so need some reviews to build an understanding. (PS i should probably play the demo :P but reviews will give info on the full game).

Was looking out for this, no idea it was released already until it popped up on Steam :o

Tempting, although Skyrim is keeping me occupied.

Awww my official thread got closed :( The admins here hate me lol. Well I've been playing it a bit today and it looks very enjoyable and indepth. I did the daily mission, voted on the government thingamies and played half a continuous. Is it me or are the large continuous worlds not as large as 1404?
Also I've unlocked a couple of things for my ark to improve wind power and such but not accessed them yet as my tech population is low.
One thing I will say is I'm concerned about these unlocks and perks being added on a per game basis. If you unlock something new you have to set up your ark in the main menu and start a new game to access it. Now on 1404 I spent days on single games, not lots of fresh ones from scratch. Not sure if I like it this way round :/

Just paid and downloaded this.....but to my horror, I will not be able to play it, Ubisoft have supplied the wrong serial. Apparently there are loads out there who have the same problem...why oh why did I not get it on disc...why oh why did I download it

I got it via steam only to find out like everyone else that its not available yet despite what it says. I ended up downloading the game via less then reputable places and installing the game from the disc image. Plug in the cd key off steam and it works fine.

Unfortunately this is the best way to play games that have unreasonable DRM measures these days. The DRM is ripped out most of the time.

Usually though I love buying games from Steam and look forward to the Steam sales as there are always great deals to be had. I really wish these companies would get rid of the intrusive DRM though.

Part of my ritual of buying games from Steam now involves going on the Steam forum to see if people are complaining about the DRM. If there are any complaints I will usually pass on the game, no matter how low the price.

Indeed. For 90% of games steam is the easiest way. So easy infact that I prefer buying on steam to getting games any other way. But it really does say something when disreputable methods are working better then reputable. I had the same issue with red alert 3. I own the game twice over (got it on disc as a pressie and bought it on steam for pennies during a sale) but because of the DRM not allowing more then x number of reinstalls every time I download the game I have to use a crack to play it. Takes the ****.

Got my collectors edition in the post. Quite enjoying the game from the 2 missions I've played - very similar to Anno 1404 but that's not a bad thing.

This game is awesome. That is all.

From what i've played so far:

Being a Tycoon means you have more efficient/cheaper energy production, but negatively effect eco-balance. Eco-balance reduces productivity of various production buildings. For example I currently have a mild level of 'acid-soil' in my new continuous game, which reduces the production of my Distilleries by 2%. The one campaign level I was playing had my coffee and sugar farms reduced to 75%, meaning they weren't supplying my energy drink manufacturers 100%. Seems you can buy/earn stuff to increase production of facilities as well as doing stuff to increase the eco-balance.

Also, underwater building is as cool and seemless as you could expect/want. Really, it's awesome.

Some production chain ratios for you:

Tools:

1x Iron Mine
1x Coal Mine (Not rotary extractor)
1x Iron Smelter
2x Tool Workshops

Convenience Food:

2x Meat Factories
1x Food Supply Factory
1x Flavour Lab (Still not 100% sure, think it's less than 1x but not sure if 1 lab can supply 2 chain yet)

Plastics:

3x Oil Drillers
1x Oil Refinery
1x Plastics Factory

Thanks!

The Anno 1404 wiki stuff was immense for helping put supply chains together so hopefully people will do the same for 2070.

Really want to play this but there are so many good games out now! Will certainly pick it up on the xmas holidays. 1404 was a great game.

Concrete:

2x Limestone Quarries
2x Concrete Factory
1x Sand Extractor

Edit.

It appears my tool loop was wrong. I currently run 1x Coal, 1x Iron, 1x Smelter and 2x Tool Shops and massively over-producing coal. I would assume for now that a tool loop needs 0.5x Coal mine, as in 1404 1 charcoal burners hut could fuel a loop, and 1 mine could fuel 2.

Edit 2.

So far, feels like:

1x Champagne Cellar
2x Sugar Farms
6x Vineyards

Ok I thought I'd install this just to have a look, even tho I won't play it for a while.

a) what the hell is this uplay thing?
b) I run the game, it patches it, and then changes everything to German, repatches, and quits ?
