What do ornamental buildings do?
i.e. are they just for looks or do they have an effect?

Loving the game - first Anno game I've owned.

Just got to point of making 3d projectors and need to make algae for the service robots.
It says I need lab technicians, but surely I need the service robots to advance to lab techs?
Do I need to trade or am I missing something obvious? :)

Yay, Finally got the blueprints for the Hydroelectric dam. There was one bit that I had to buy from trenchcoat, I kept cycling his goods - didn't realise it cost 3000 credits to cycle the page

Anyway I now have enough to make 4 blueprints. I think that I can store these on my ARK for the next continous game?

Decoration bits are a naff size, don't fit into my building layout at all

Yes, you can store them for your next game. The dams are very useful :)

Not too impressed with the decorative items.

Excellent news. Am still on my first continous game, having put in about 30 hours or so and trying to figure everything out myself - no guides or building layouts.

When I start my next continous game I assume the labs forget everything I have researched? They just take sooooo long.

Not seen the decor items yet, but if it's anything like 1404 I'm looking forward to them.

Making an efficient, high income city layout is difficult, but doable with some trial and error. Making an efficient, high income city that looks awesome is an entirely different challenge.

I'm stuck on mission 3 where you have to deliver the water samples. No matter what I do I can not complete the task. After a quick google it seems to be a bit of an issue and the only fix is to restart the level and hope it works..
Has anyone else had this and found a work around as I really do not want to start again...

I was stuck on this for ages, you need to use the hovercraft to get the water samples

I completely forgot I had it and was trying to use the commando boat

Just did that cheers now I'm stuck on the next bit where you have to build an employee house for the volunteers. I have no idea how you do that I have loads of houses but all my people are wanting food and then leaving. I have fish in my main storage but god knows how you use that..?

The game is really not very user friendly at all the tutorials are crap...

They probably want more than just fish. If it's the same as 1404, click one of their houses and you should get a breakdown of their wants. The food wheel will show you what foods they need.

Or something. It's been a while...

I think it was a bug as I just restarted the level and it worked straight away.. Apart from the lack of decent tutorial and the odd bug it's a great game..:D
