not bad price that, do you get the key instantly and where do you download the game from ?

cheers !

I bought it from there too. I got the key within about ten minutes of ordering. You download the game via the Ubisoft download manager, the link for which is further down the page that Vimes posted.

As noted above :)

I got my key within minutes of ordering and all is well with any updates etc that UBI have released.

Hope that it works out for you.

Lo guys, I'm having a little problem with the campaign.. :o

I've completed chapter 3 mission 1, but mission 2 is still locked. But there's no indication of what I need to do to progress, it's like it's bugged? :(

Has anyone come across this and found a solution?

I jumped straight into sand-box mode after the initial mission but I'll check and see if theres anything relevant that the next one requires.

Anno 2070 £10.86 @ G2Play.net. Link.

Seems like a reasonable price but the fact you need to connect to servers even in order to play the single player/sandbox is really putting me off.

Worth it or not?

If this kind of game floats your boat then yes it is worth it. Just don't use up all your three activations if you change your hardware a lot. This is even more important when you are buying it from places like you note as one forum member was asked to provide scans of his box, with bar code, a printed receipt and something else I have forgotten. Only then would they increase his activation limit.

Thanks for that. Tempted, but would only really play single player campaign and sandbox. How are servers these days? Do you still need to connect online in order to play the above? Presumably there's no work around? Cheers.

AFAIK the servers seem reliable and I have not had a problem in being able to play, however each time I do a connection has been needed to do that.

There is no workaround for the latest game update if you want to be sure of having all the fixes. Any workaround that I was able to find only supported the game prior to the latest patch.

I had played the Anno 1404 and the Venice addon and found it well worth the cost. This is also offers similar value, especially at the price you have noted.

BTW - the third item requested was a scan of certain parts of the manual.

Seriously?

Surely they must have another way to prove you own a legit copy, Steam or any of the other online stores don't provide you with a paper manual? Another classic Ubisoft screwup!

Yup I was being serious - the user posted the request from UBI within their own forums...

"Could you please send me a digital image of each of the following:

1) Game manual with the installation code visible.
2) Proof of purchase.
3) Barcode from the game’s box

When we receive these images we will be able to help you further."
UBI have noted that when Guru3d stopped their review due to the activation thingy kicking in (or something like that as Guru3d were testing the game using different GPU's and each time the game wanted another activation) UBI responded....

Dear Anno Players,

We’ve seen many questions and statements being made lately on the activation system of Anno 2070, in reaction to an article posted on Guru3D.

Essentially, many of you are saying that the system will use an activation each time you change a graphic card or motherboard. We acknowledge that this is the case, and that this may be an issue for those of you who make frequent hardware changes to multiple PCs. If this applies to you, we invite you to contact our customer support after upgrading your PC. Ubisoft customer service can effectively deal with such queries, and can be reached at http://support.ubi.com

The situation described in the Guru3D article is a rare one; installing the game on three different PCs and making multiple hardware modifications in a single day is a scenario that is unlikely for the vast majority of Anno players. We apologize for the experience Guru3D had with the game, and have already taken steps to ensure that they can continue to test their systems using Anno.

Anno 2070 is a very important product to us and we sincerely worked to provide an activation system that helps prevent piracy while being fair to players. We appreciate your feedback and understanding.
I ended up being locked out of my legitimately bought copy of Anno 1404 for several weeks (might have been longer) until one of their patches removed the copy protection. They were having activation issues with their servers and it decided that all of mine were used up. Regardless of contacting them with many of my details alternative methods had to be sought to play the game I bought, full price as well.

It's this sort of faff that drives people to piracy on these types of games. It's just not worth the hassle for a single player game.

I generally boycott EA/Ubi now because I can't be bothered with the hassle which is a shame :(

where the best place to buy this and play via steam?
did look on steam but it costs so much more.
i take it i just need a retail copy with the keygen and play it via steam

Hmmm, I've been tempted to buy this for a while... I'm still waiting for Steam to drop it in price though.

Frankly I don't actually have much of an issue with EA's activation policy. You activate it, and it's done. Especially now it's all linked into my Origin account, it's not the end of the world.

Ubisoft on the otherhand seem to make a mockery of DRM...

Just what a joke, has given me another reason to postpone purchase of what I suspect may be a very good game..

Bought this game on Sunday and am absolutely loving it. It is so addictive and a massive time sink. Quite slow paced which I like as i'm not the speediest person when it comes to building etc.

Doing a continuous game and as I started to upgrade to my level 3 workers, I also unlocked the Tech guys as well so I basically have 20+ new buildings at my disposal. Going to take me a long time to catch up with these changes and get it all balanced before the next level.

Anyway, any tips for a newish guy like myself?

The Anno Wiki page is your friend :p

Currently on level 3 of the new world event and absolutely loving it. I have been impressed with the level of support this game has received post-release, and am tempted to buy the DLC just because of how great they have been.

Hrm, not sure of the meaning here... ;)

I mean ignore the DRM and enjoy the game. It's awesome. :p

Got to agree. I love the whole world events and senate stuff that shows that they've not just released the game and forgotten about it. :)
