Annoyed @ Work (rant)

You verbally abused your colleague (even if you were right) the company grievance procedure will punish you for this act probably with a formal written warning about your future conduct.

You have to choices take this on the chin accept you were wrong and in future report your colleagues slack efforts through the appropriate chanels or two lie say you never verbally abused him and worm your way out of trouble. The choice is yours!

This is the problem with modern Britian. No one will say anything to anyones FACE anymore.

Brookert is right, the guy deserved a verbal dressing down for slacking off, he is at work not on holiday!

Personally I don't see anything wrong for calling it as it is

You need to learn the messed up world of office politics. The other guy is going to be promoted to supervise you, and boss is now going to consider you a whinger. Its not how hard you work, but the perception of you that gets you promoted.

Exactly. We have a manager who does nothing but "appears" to do a lot. He gets regular perks and bonuses and time off for free and the rest of us are often told by our MD that he is under a lot of stress and pressure and we shouldn't try and burden him with any more work.

Most of the time he sits there with his shoes off and his feet on his desk chatting to his mates on the phone while the rest of us work our ******** off.

If anybody whingers about him to the MD they are told they are just jealous and to stop whinging.

How he manages to pull off the biggest cover up that he does nothing is beyond me. He has now been promoted twice in 6 months.

Seems to be doing his job fine then, a managers job is to manage and get his minions to do the work :D

"only taking the really light boxes and after each box he moved, he sat down for a second"

maybe.. just maybe he isnt as strong as you. being at work doesnt mean you should strain yourself or make your arms ache from carrying stuff. maybe he didnt like being given a crap job. maybe hes lazy. you dont know for sure, you just assumed..
instead of asking him what the problem was, you abused him, for that you deserve a chat from your boss.

Ha ha. You are actually meant to do something even manage. The way I see it, we could save £50k per annum by getting rid of him and nothing would be different.

Good job he's not my boss thank god.

Thats exactly why its middle managers tend to go first, when money is to be saved.

Right, me and this lad were given a job today to lift some boxes up to the 3rd floor. I cracked on with the job and this lad was incredibly slow, moping around the place, only taking the really light boxes and after each box he moved, he sat down for a second. Now he is only a year younger than me (21) and his attitude stank. I was getting really pee'd off with him because I wanted to go for my lunch but couldn't until the boxes were moved. I kept on asking him to hurry up a little bit but he just moaned all the time, then I decided to call him a ****** lazy idiot.

He is now going to tell my boss that I verbally abused him and will probably get in trouble for it, whilst he does no work all day. He also gets paid the same amount of money as me and I do 10x more work than he does.

AARRGRGGGHHH!!

Sorry, rant over.

You should have said nothing and got on with your work, then if you felt there was an issue. You should have talked to your boss, as it stand you have verbally abused a work collage. For all you know he may have been coming down with a cold or has another illness, its not for you to decide if he is lazy or not. That is the bosses job, which you have now made harder, if it was laziness. He will be able to play the abuse in the workplace card should your boss try to give him a warning, if he does then you are in the firing line as it could end up in an employment tribunal.

Just to let everyone know we both got a stern telling off from the boss, nothing more thank god. And no he wasn't ill or coming down with a cold, just plain lazy and every other staff member knows it. Just annoys me that he is on the same wages for doing half the job of the rest of us. Thanks for your support most of you:)
