Anonymous hacks FBI laptop and finds personal data from millions of Apple devices

Aren't Google in bed with US intelligence agencies? I'd be surprised if most of the big US corps aren't (Microsoft, Facebook etc)

most likely to some extent (not that that's a bad thing tbh...) Facebook is a potential goldmine of information on people with lots of their friends, associates, family already mapped out nicely. Would be silly for them not to use a resource like that.

The FBI have issued a statement saying that......

The FBI is aware of published reports alleging that an FBI laptop was compromised and private data regarding Apple UDIDs was exposed. At this time there is no evidence indicating that an FBI laptop was compromised or that the FBI either sought or obtained this data.

Never bought an Apple device ever, so I see that as an achievement, My personal details are safe!

apart from all the other companies that probably have my details who I don't know about. Really is a moot point, my info is most likely all over the place.

The FBI has not requested this information from Apple, nor have we provided it to the FBI or any organization. Additionally, with iOS 6 we introduced a new set of APIs meant to replace the use of the UDID and will soon be banning the use of UDID,” said Apple spokesperson, Natalie Kerris.

Good news that they're getting rid of UDIDs anyway :)

Convenient lines or legitimately placing the source of the info away from the concerned parties? Where else would you source that many udid numbers to leak? of course it could be dodgy data with only a few real IDs thrown in for credibility, but it is a very convenient out for both apple and the FBI. Who do you believe? The parties who are at risk or the one who wants to create waves?

Sounds about right for a team in cyber defence, inept fools.

Hah, the next decade should be fun really, preparing my ears for the statements from government, POLICE OF THE INTERBUTT!.

Their utter lack of success should speak volumes as it is...

It was always going to be a problem child of Apple really, all its connectivity, a plus, yes of course, but that only means the problem is magnified beyond the range of solving.

Of course was it really the Anon "hive" (though i use the word hive in the loosest sense) or just a bunch of over active teenagers/young adolescents thinking that they can move their anarchy into the real world?

Perhaps its one of the Hacker groups and using the scapegoat to get by...ah who knows...ah wait the FBI Cyber team was supposed to...Damn, well that went badly.

;)

A small Florida publishing company says the million-record database of Apple gadget identifiers released last week by the hacker group Anonymous was stolen from its servers two weeks ago. The admission, delivered by the company’s CEO exclusively to NBC News, contradicts Anonymous' claim that the hacker group stole the data from an FBI agent's laptop in March.

I had a suspicion the Apple haters in this thread would be eating their words :p
