Another Build Suggestion Thread

Kenny, need a better mobo than that mate.

You're such a hero Icey, what would we do without your magical specs ;), apart from the fact the op looks like he has an £850 budget which you appear to have gone over by some £143.39.

That mainboard is every bit as good as the P6T (dependant as always on what reviews you read), and up until very recently was about £227 if I remember rightly.

It supports sli and crossfire, has 6 dimm slots, good at overclocking, what more can you ask for. At that price it's an absolute bargain.

I see that there is a bit of beef. ;) Ganging up on me, are we? Not my fault that I'm a magician, takes years of practice to become a master speccer. :p

I have gone over the budget because I believe it is better to buy good quality components altogether, rather than having to upgrade constantly. If you're going for i7, you may as well spend a little more and go all out.

As for the Foxconn, from what I've read it seems more of a 'digital lifestyle' board  but at the price it is currently, I suppose it is very good. What can I say? I'm an Asus boy at heart. :p:D

I must admit I'm the same as you when it comes to ASUS boards, they are generally pretty damn good boards.

To be honest I can't remember the last non Asus board I brought, but it's hard to ignore the Foxconn at that price it's a steal :)

Wow, didn't expect this many replies when I got back. Cheers for the feed back and build examples guys. Think I'm going to opt for an i7 build instead. Going to rethink my build out and I'll repost it on here when I've decided on my final specs. Thanks again :D

Ok, looked through the posts and have decided to feed a bit more cash into my budget. Here's how it looks:

Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) / Gigabyte EX58-UD4P Intel X58 / Corsair 6GB DDR3 NQ PC3-10666C9 1333MHz (3x2GB) Triple Channel DDR3 Bundle £523.96
Antec 900-2 Nine Hundred Two Ultimate Gaming Case - Black (No PSU) £103.49
OCZ StealthXStream 700w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply £71.99
Powercolor ATI Radeon HD4890 1GB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI HDMI PCI-Express £195.49
Samsung S222L Lightscribe 22x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer DVD-RAM £21.56
ASUS Triton 81 Multi-socket Quiet CPU Cooler £49.21
Total: 965.70 + P&P

Decided to not get a new HD and will just keep the two I have. Will get an additional small SSD later down the line to install my OS on, but for now It will just throw my budget well over what I had planned. Thanks again for all the help.
