**ANOTHER DEAL OF THE CENTURY - THIS TIME ITS ATI's TURN!**

Also some good news, the 5830's are full retail so come in a bigger box and the 5850's are a newer design that is now only 8.5" long which means they will fit in all cases. :)

How long are the 5830's? I am wondering will it fit in a friends lian-li pc-7 plus.

haha, some people just want too much.

I'm not too well up on graphics cards, so what is this Extreme edition? I'm aware that there are Black Editions too, but how does this Extreme edition hold up against the rest?

I think Sapphire just called them that for LOL's, as far as I can see they operate at stock speeds, but they both do seem to have very good heatpipe cooling solutions which are practically silent, maybe thats the theme behind Sapphires naming. :)

Do the 5850's have two crossfire ports on the top for tri crossfire...?

Cheers

No, doesn't look like it!

Yes the 5850 is smaller than the 5830, amazing, clearly a new design.

Other things I've noticed, both cards require 2x 6pin PCI-E connectors (adapters are supplied)

Also the cards are only setup for dual Crossfire, tri/quad is not possible.

From the other thread.

I take it theres a big diff between the 5850 and the 480 super oc?
Was going to get one of these till i seen the 480 is there a big gap between the 2 or slight diff?

Huge gap mate...heck I'm even noticing a massive increase from my 5870 to 480 SOC, think the RAM really does show it in certain games. And just a general speed increase, if you can stretch to the 480 then I would consider either that or the 6950.

Just received my notice of shipment. :)

Looking forward to a shiny new 5850, it should be a performance boost.......

It is replacing a 1950XTX :o

I shall benchmark the 1950 shortly in order to properly assess the speed boost, looking forward to turning the detail up in all my games. :)

I think you will blown away, I run everything at 1080p max settings with a 5850...
