**ANOTHER DEAL OF THE CENTURY - THIS TIME ITS ATI's TURN!**

My biggest concerns are whether this Sapphire DX11 card is going to have long term performance for games coming out over the next couple of years or so, plus the unknown of whether it will be able to run Rfactor2 at maximum detail upon eventual release (hopefully this year).

For a card in the ~£100 price bracket this one really punches above its weight, it should be able to run everything you chuck at it for at least a couple of years yet.

Personally I'm buying one because I just want a card to play Dragon Age 2 on until the 28nm cards are released at the end of the year, at which point I'll stick it on the bay and recoup a good chunk of the cost and upgrade.

One hugely important question - one that no one's been wondering about yet - is that do these 5850s come with software-adjustable voltage regulators or do they follow the unfortunate path taken by most manufacturers of non-reference 5850s, i.e. the path of cutting costs and dropping such features...

If the voltage can not be tweaked, then there probably isn't that much OC'ing headroom to play with.

Hate to keep yapping about this but guise, seriously, what are the odds these cards, being Sapphire's own design, will allow voltage-tweaking? So far, the number of non-reference 5850s that let you do that is astonishingly minuscule, to put it bluntly. Now, considering that these "Extreme" cards by Sapphire are obviously meant to be cost-effective, for the manufacturer as well as for the buyers, I would bet almost anything that we are in for a huge disappointment as far as overclocking these things is concerned.

Sapphire's own tweaking app, Trixx, doesn't list any 5850 models as being supported.

Getting the 5850 off this promo would cost me £133 delivered; still a fair price, but I'm panicing and thinking, maybe I should try and source a cheap reference-design 5850, or a 6870 instead.

Trixx works with some non reference 5850's - I have an XFX one here that it supports - but I've read a few threads with people that couldn't get it working with non ref Sapphire cards.

If you want to be certain of voltage control, I'd do what you said & source a ref 5850.

At least that way there's less chance of you being disappointed.

Decided to take the plunge and pick up one of these. This will get me my first crossfire system :D

Now to put some money aside for those lovely new 27" Hazro monitors...

A few people have already asked the question but there's been no reply: is anyone at Overclockers able to tell us whether soft overvolting is supported by this card?
