Another 'is this bike any good?' thread

This is Halfords we're talking about, they may charge me for the replacements so I'd need to add the value into the voucher I'm about to order. If they don't charge me then I can just use the excess for any other bits so it's not a problem. But I really have no idea what I'm looking at which is why I asked for specifics (ie links so I can see the price). Not trying to be pushy but my mouse is hovering over the order button!

I cant see any on there that size or even a bit smaller, you can always get the tires later as they are cheap enough, frenchtart might be able to shed some light.

Congrats on pulling the trigger!

Tyre upgrades all depend upon how you intend to ride in terms of road/off-road. I've never tried them, but some are going bonkers over those Vittoria Voyager Hyper folding for £15 at PX, for tarmac riding http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/TYVIVOHY/vittoria-voyager-hyper-folding-tyre . Other road options that spring to mind and don't break the bank are Schwalbe Kojaks and Vittoria Randonneur II Pros.

You can always change tyres at a later date, I do find the cheap ones supplied often on bikes have a hard compound which can be skittish when cornering if the roads slightly damp or greasy. As mentioned shwalbe or continental tyres are good.

Frustratingly, it's going to be three weeks until I can get it. The voucher system won't even process the order until the first of the month and then I have to get the paperwork through, sign it and return it before they'll issue the actual voucher. I want it NOW!

That's actually fairly quick compared to my company :p

We can only get a voucher at two points in the year and once you apply it takes over 2 months to arrive!

They've already told me they'll honour the price so it won't go up. At the end of the year, the agreement is extended by another four years at no cost and then there's nothing to pay. Yes, it's worth waiting.

I actually dreamed about my new bike last night, even though I've not got it yet. This has just dragged on but at least it should all start being actioned for me to get my C2W voucher tomorrow.
