Another Virgin Media Rant!!!!

THey came over and, from what you say, your wife didn't hear the door. It's hardly the delivery man's fault, really, so stop acting like it is.
He can't meet you half way and he can't just change his rota that easily. It's a pity, but it's not his fault.

they came out to me today because my set top box broke. I wouldnt turn on at all and when i rang they said an engineer could only come out between 8am-12 and 12-4.
What am i suppose to do as i work from 9-6??? (I know i suppose its the same with all businesses)

I spoke to an asian woman on the phone wo i could barely understand and asked her to go and get the manager, i was annoyed because without the net i couldnt send my boss my hours so i wouldnt be getting paid. She said he was busy and i would have to wait on the phone for 10 minutes (at which point i hung up) luckily the box came alive the day after so i could send my hours.

I rang up the same day and agreed to someone coming out, i just had to get a mate to come and wait for them.

I was on a 19.99 month contract for tv and 2mb broadband. its now £23.50 a month, which they forgot to tell me, not really had many problems with the net at the moment, dont really watch tv but i know we dont get sky sports news, which you can on freeview!!!

someone told me about this earlier, when they offer you a date, TELL them you want a Saturday booking. THEY DO do saturday engineers, they just try and avoid them....

meh, all in all, they offer a money back guarentee with an undisclosed timeframe. which you SHOULDN'T exploit. we had many issues, the v+ box is incredibly slow and irritating, the internet was dodgey at first but even after speeding up we got awful pings which they couldn't fix. some other stuff was bad, the other box kept freezing. it was irritating, but not awful, but they agreed it wasn't great, 6 weeks later they cut us off, with a 2week grace period for us to sort out new internet and get sky installed, for free. we got the whole 6 weeks completely free of charge(few phone calls we paid for). installation, connection, anything and all subscription for completely free. managed to get a lot dl'd when not throttled in peak times. though there were issues and missed engineer appointments it was clearly overworked staff around here, when the guys showed up they were very good, quick, polite, and hinted at why their were problems, let us know after a few visits that signal around here won't get much better, they boosted it as far as possible, and net won't get great.

can't really complain, even though moving to them, then on to another service was a pain.

My VM is so rubbish at peak times since the switch from BY :(

I Do agree with this since 750mb isnt that much space to download before i get capped. But, saying that i still do get one of the lowest pings in most games servers i play in so its not all bad.
Bring back Blueyonder Content Servers on Steam. Ping was never over 5 and i seemed to get patches and things quicker

VM @ peak period makes me cry. I've taken to actually working during peak periods and browsing offpeak. How ****.

I get the same raw deal with VM. I use a webcam with the GF most weekdays as she is away right now and constantly the cam stops from slooooooow internet. Web browsing is slower than dial-up often during peak times too, in my area it is a disgrace

Fap *Buffering* Fap *Buffering* Fap *Buffering* Fap.

Sounds like the typical virgin we've been dealing with for the last 2 months or so. Thinking about sending a letter of complaint. I booked in the installation for when I arrived in Liverpool after summer holidays and then we were told it would be put back two weeks due to more cable being needed in the area. 2 weeks later no-one turned up at all. We rang them and they said that it'd be another 2 weeks or so.

So obviously it was 3 weeks later. We thought ok should be all good now - Nope installation people came and said that there still wasn't enough cable and then linked us on too next doors. Then they came last week and tried to connect our very own cable up however the cable is borked and is useless. the men left saying that they'd be in contact - we've heard nothing.

I understand that they've got a job to do but when you order something a month early to make sure its all going to work out and be smooth you expect itto work out. Plus think i might have to put a little paragraph about the disgraceful language of the workmen on every visit.

The internet is good in the morning i'd say between the hours of 8am - 12 then its slows down. Bear in mind we're sharing with next door and after four pm its very slow.

Do you think its worth a letter of complaint?
Think it'll be worth it?

Ahh virgin media

- VOD constantly unavailable
- Call centre staff consistently fail to record apppointment times and notes
- poor choice of programmes recorded in catch up tv, no more dragons den ... why ?!
- incorrect billing EVERY MONTH
- our telephone line was cut off a month ago and I'm still waiting for an engineer to come out on a weekend to fix it

apart from that everything just hunky :)

I really cant see what the fuss is, the engineer turned up and no one answered the door:rolleyes: After all you cant expect him to stand around all day waiting for someone to open the door for him as he will have other jobs to do as well

So - you didn't answer the door and it's VM's fault? I used to work in an industry managing service guys and VW vans going round to see customers, and the schedule really is 90% of the time very tight, as they have their costs to consider i.e. hiring an extra guy vs. getting them to work harder. Then you get guys ignoring a job entirely and refusing to work past their fixed hours if the previous job takes longer than expected.

Unfortunately what you are asking VM /the engineer to do is:

a) potentially jeopardise the engineer's valuable free time in the evening
b) risk causing another customer to have their appointment cancelled

Why should they when you are entirely at fault for the missed appointment?

If VM is worse than the days when I worked for Telewest god help you.

One question

If its really that bad why are you still customers?

I think some people wait out and hope something gets sorted sooner rather than later.

Personally I'm just waiting for the right time to change ISPs - example when I go abroad in December.

This is a rant thread, so let the people rant!

basically

1) I refuse to pay BT £150 to connect my telephone.
2) I don't have a TV aerial so even with a working telephone I can't have freeview.

so as bad as they are, they are still the best alternative.

Yep, awful service here too from VM. We've been with them for 5 or 6 years since they were Cable & Wireless, much better back then.

I don't even bother with the Internet now at home unless it's something urgent, as it's usually so slow i'm sitting around waiting for things to load.

Red and White, It aint her fault if she is doing a job as a mother and looking after her son......Just spoke to another bloke who is ringing me back, and if he dont, il drag that company by the b******s until they learn how to offer good customer support to their customers...

Right...so:

He knocks
Your wife doesn't answer (yes, she is busy but does he have x-ray vision?)
He waits, leaves a card and goes
It's somehow his fault?

Right...
