Such a shame to see this guy start on a downward spiral like he is doing. Painkiller addiction, drink addiction and now a drink driving arrest which could see him jailed. Also been going through a divorce too. Just thankful for everyone that no-one was seriously hurt in the incident. I ma not defending him by the way, Drink driving is unforgivable and he should have the book thrown at him like everyone else does.

But I genuinely think him and Dec are two of our best TV presenters ever, and their on screen chemistry is great. Now Dec has to go it alone for the foreseeable future, which wont be the same.

He's in rehab, but alcohol is a horrible addiction as it's so easy, and common, to relapse badly. I hope he doesn't go the same way as Gazza, who has been in some terrible states in the past with his yo-yo drinking problem.

No doubt someone will pipe in about him having no problems due to his wealth but that has nothing to do with the struggles of addiction. Some of the most famous and richest people in the world have descended into alcoholism.

I hope he sorts himself out. One thing that does annoy me though is that, like many 'celebrities' who are caught out, he jumps into 'treatment' as soon as bad publicity is threatened. He may well need that treatment and it may well be the right thing for him. But if he genuinely needs it (which he probably does) then he should have sought it beforehand. Maybe I'm just cynical but I see too many people doing this to stop bad news rather than genuinely to fix their addictions.

Yeah it seems par for the course as a form of damage limitation. Making you look like you're making an effort. Mind you, he has entered rehab before without any major incident prompting it. Maybe this was genuinely a sharp wake up call.

Zero sympathy from me, I despise these 'celebrities' who have it all and then turn completely self destructive. I keep my sympathy for the people he hit, who even though not injured, will quite possibly have to pay more on their insurance for the next five years for a non fault accident.
I would not be at all surprised if he is found dead in a pool of vomit sometime in the next few years.
And yeah, the 'rehab' trick when caught out...

I hope he can pull himself out the other side - Really awful to see :(

Hard enough getting over an addiction, but when you're that famous you have to do it in front of the whole world - I hope he has good support around him

He does deserve some punishment though if he was caught drink driving - There is no excuse - Hopefully this is an awakening for him.

I honestly found ant and Dec cringy even when I was a kid. Glad at least one of them is off TV for a bit. OP clearly likes them but I find them excruciating.

No pity for ant from me. Should see jail time but bet he dodges it.

I've got a lot of sympathy for him. He became famous at a very young age and has grown up in the media spotlight.

I also get the feeling that he rushed back to work following his previous problems too quickly, out of a feeling of responsibility towards Dec and possibly to try to distract himself from the breakdown of his long-term relationship.
What he needs now is to be left alone by the media to recover, only returning to work if and when he feels ready to do so.

Mental health is something i struggle to understand. However i feel sorry (celebrity or not) for anyone who is in a dark place in life.

I hope he gets the help he needs.

People have sympathy for him because he's that cheeky chappie off the telly who makes them laugh on a Saturday night. In reality he's a 42 year old man who got in a car drunk when he had absolutely no reason to do so and could have quite easily killed somebody or maimed them for life.

Pretty much on point.....can't argue with that.
