ANTI VIRUS & INTERNET SECURITY RANGE EXPANSION

I tried Norton internet security 2011 and it brought my pc to it's knees (Installed and runs fine on 2 other laptops)..... Uninstalled and tried norton 360 that i got free when i signed up for one of those pc mags for 3months for £3, and it runs away in the background and i don't notice it.

I have been running it for the past week and I previously used MSE.

It works just as fast and has tonnes more functionality. I have experienced no issues using Steam or Origin or playing any online games (it has a gaming mode). The scan takes an age on my mechanical drives, but only as they are full of crud. SSD is as quick as anything.

I am never one to discuss pricing but I managed to pick it up recently on a one day deal for the unbelievable price of £9.00 for a 60 month license. :D

All in all, very happy with it and as the post above shows, it is very good at picking up nasties.

Hmm I think norton is aimed more at people that know little, they just install it and expect it to work. job done... we all pefer something with can...err mess around with make it better etc.

I personally would like to see kespersky back again its a awsome( and aggresive) peaice of software...erm isnt Comodo free?

I m running Kev Pure atm, I perfer internet secuirtys new 2012 look through and I feel more at home with it but oh well it was cheaper
 
I am surprised people still pay for AV for home. What with Avast being free for personal use and all.
 
A few days ago I had to remove Kasperski because it caused issues with software development. Basically stopped me from debugging ASP. Tried both 2011 and 2012 so suspect it was a something to do with the virus database update. I Was a longtime user, 5 years.Anyway long story short. Went for Norton Internet Security 2012 and I am very impressed. System feels faster and it picked up 4 potential viruses that Kasperski missed along with some trackers. It's a slick interface and easier to use.

Just though I would post some real feedback.

Comodo is both free & there are paid versions if you want support ,other than forum, & online backup.

The issue I have with Norton is that it is still bloatware although better than it was & it is a PITA to uninstall as loads of files+ registry keys are still left behind "just in case you want to reinstall".

As with so many things personal preference & what works for you is a big factor. These days Malware/spyware are more of an issue.
What is it that about 10% turn off windows updates & another 20% take over a month to check for updates! With ESET/NOD32 it gives you a warning that there are windows security patches available.;) I've had that before Windows has notified me.

Norton 2012 certainly not bloatware, have you used it?. There are 2 services running totalling 15MB with zero cpu usage while developing software.

When I uninstalled Kaperski I immeadiately noticed a difference in performance. Since installing Norton it feels like there is no AntiVirus installed which is pretty amazing.

Big thumbs up for Norton 2012.
