I cancelled a standing order as I was told the entire fees were paid and no further payments were due. However, the standing order still went out.

I reached out to the company concerned but they are saying they do not do refunds bizzarely.

When I spoke to the bank, they are saying I cancelled the standing order on a bank holiday so it didnt get actioned in time although they are saying the payment went out as a faster payment and not standing order.

What are my options here?
 
Stand and bang, that's your only option. I think you need to go to the recipient and ask very nicely for it back, that's all you can do
 
You have to keep asking the recipient directly.

Standing orders aren't like direct debits, they're more like cash and cheques, I don't think banks to do much about it tbh.
 
Did you take into account the difference in NI payments this month and how it will affect your monthly take home? Would this cancel out the difference so you can get through the month?
