Oh wow so you must have only really recently built yours then? They've only been out a month or two? I really liked them and considered replacing my cheap chinese ones, but I'd still have to start drilling/cutting the back for the kinds of connections I want in it. (Neutrik Speakeron).

Though not essential my preference is also to have a power button on the front which is what Ive done

Yea, I already had a single one built for my centre channel using a Silicon Ray case, the Ghent ones are way better. I used WBT binding posts, though I wish I'd just hard wired the cables to the amps as my runs are fairly short. I didn't wire the power switch at all, also didn't bother with the LED on the front. They sound fantastic, just edging out my MF M6i which I now need to sell.

I'm running a pair of monitor Audio r 6 speakers with a marantz ki pearl lite with a asus *Xonar Essence STX although I would like to get myself a nice dac and a turn table

Here... have some porn:

......Room treatment is so important isnt it, again most audiophiles overlook this......

Sad but yes often the case, though some of us keep banging the drum in the hope the message gets through ;).
There are many DIY options if people get a bit creative and do the research.

Wilson Benesch Discoveries speakers and simaudio moon i5.3rs amplifier and CD player wired with nordost cables here :D

I'd love to hear those Wilsons. What are your thoughts?

They are simply stunning and the best standmounters I have ever heard , they just disappear with the simaudio as a front end :D Crazy thing is I don't have time to use them so they will be up for sale soon as they are just sitting in there crates right now

Ooooh it's willy waving time lol :p

But on a serious note..... My setup consists of :-

Arcam bdp300 blu ray player ( but its damn good for audio as well )
Arcam i-rdac
Graham Slee srg11 headphone amp
Sennheiser hd700 headphones

I've got a 2nd system that doesn't get played much

Marantz pm6004 amp
rega p3 turntable with super elys cartridge
Mission 780se speakers which get out 2 times a year due to space issues........so I otherwise use my headphones
Sennheiser hd 598 .........or my hd 600's or 700's :D

I used to be an audiophile but the age of digital has pretty much killed it. Modern equipment even the cheaper stuff reveals far too frequently poor recording/mastering. Who would have thought it would get so bad when there is no reason for it to be bad. Crazy that we have gone backwards.

I heard a pair of wilsons at Scalford this year. Powered by a monster Krell amp, Modwright pre and an old Wadia CDP. Glorious sound, was one of the best systems of the day for me.

I take it that you don't believe in magic speaker cables and their magic properties then?

Not really - so long as there's sufficient cross section in the cable then it'll do for me. I also don't really believe in hugely expensive interconnects and PSU cables. That said, where possible I'll use quality cable and connectors - VD, Canare, Belden etc, so I guess you can't call the cables I use cheap, but they're nothing compared to what some people will spend.
