Any opinions on o2 broadband?

i'm with virgin at the moment for phone and broadband but am looking to move to 02 broadband 8mb

i was just waiting for my exchange to become enabled and the 02 site previosly mentioned completion in june 08 but now no date is shown but they can provide alternative access at £22.50

can anyone check when my exchange will be 02 enabled i live in chelmsford and my postcode is *** ***

it may be worth mentioning that I use an 02 business mobile (i don't have my own personal mobile phone)

You should probably remove your postcode from your OP.

Check again on the O2 availability checker tomorrow.

Well I've had my O2 home access package for just over a week now, been great so far in regards to download speeds however I was having a lot of latency issues yesterday and the fellas on the phone are pretty good, they're down to earth and don't seem like script monkeys. Didn't get the problem sorted just yet but they're nice to talk to

I also work for o2 and I am aware of the friends and family scheme, just double checking, are you an instore customer, and are these connections going towards your stores figures / spirit?

A question for anyone that works for O2:

If i migrate to the O2 Home Broadband Access since its available everywhere, can i still switch to their LLU service once it gets activated? Their 'Access' package has a 12 month contract so i dont know if this works, but i have read at other forums that it does?

The reason i ask this is because i talked to Sam from SamKnows and he said my exchange is now saying its getting activated in August from Be*.

I'm with Be* and the speed and value is brilliant, although if you have any router issues they will try to force the blame upon you that it isn't working, until the insides of it actually start to melt.

If you are going with O2 / Be I really recommend getting a different router, they are really terrible.

That would be great if you could find out any other information. SamKnows still hasn't updated and i contacted Be* yesterday and got a reply today saying that they are having "technical issues" on checking the enablement date of my exchange. Probably just an excuse not to tell me.

I was told when signing up that once my exchange gets LLU they will switch me over.

Samknows only updates when Be gives them new data, so it's not going to change instantly.

z0mbi3, I realise you probably don't want everyone asking you this, but if you were able to find out whether my exchange is scheduled for an upgrade at any point, I'd appreciate knowing! Don't think it's the kind of info I could find by myself, but if it is, please let me know how. It's the 'BARNBY DUN' exchange outside Doncaster. Am enjoying good speeds with o2 now, but as always, more would be better

Ok cool. I thought the discount was just the same as the discount you receive as an O2 mobile customer, but obviously im guessing you can give out more since you work at O2?

Thanks. Samknows reckons that my exchange HAS been unbundled, and that AOL, TalkTalk, Sky Broadband, Orange etc. are available, but that others, including o2/Be* aren't. Is it the case that individual operators have to make a choice to put their individual equipment in thesee exchanges to make them available?

It says that there is "No connection charge Until 31/12/08"... anyone have any idea how much this is? I couldn't find the info. Ta.

I read somewhere that it was something like £15 or something. Dont take my word for it, just read somewhere

I believe connection is free at the minute, that date is probably the end of the promotion. I didn't pay a connection fee, at any rate.

Hmm yeah it could mean that, didn't think of it that way, I just assume you don't pay anything until 21/12/2008 then you'd pay the connection charge.

Curious also, o2 is say 7.50 per month, but how much do you pay for the BT line also? I keep think it's 7.50 only, but I guess there's also the phone line charges. What's the total amount you pay? if you don't mind me asking that is.
