Any opinions on o2 broadband?

Sure you might, though the odds of being in the 20Mbps-24Mbps group are fairly small. It's probably managing expectations, but the majority won't get anything like 20Mbps either...

Most O2 customers offered 20mbps will get near to it (or possibly higher) though, at least over 16mbps or they will be dropped to the lower tariff.

You're right with the managing expectations though, I think it's generally considered that Be users are more likely to be 'techies' and understand more about adsl speeds whereas a lot more normal home users will be attracted to the O2 branded product.

How dynamic is the dynamic ip with O2? With NTL the dynamic IP remained the same for well over 1 year.. I dont really want to spend £5 on a static IP (would have to go for the Pro package then, only want the premium package)

Fairly sticky, doesn't change every time the modem restarts or resyncs. Think I've had 2 IPs in the 4 months I've been with o2.

How is o2s fair usage policy? I'm looking for a new provider now that enta has started throttling connections.
Well it's unlimited usage. There is a clause about excessive network usage, but supposedly you have to do something like 4TB a month to get their attention. No mention of throttling or anything like that.

Otherwise it's just standard fair usage stuff, i.e. personal not commercial use, no abuse, illegal activity, virii etc. Same as you'd get with any other consumer ISP.

4TB a month ? thx ill avoid it then, Ukonline been pretty good to me think ill stick with whats safe and works :)

Hmm, has O2 changed the early cancallation fee? It used to be about £48, but it now appears they will hold you to the remainder of the contract? If so thats a shame.

IS the F&F discount still available through you Wicksta ? :)

Parents on be* unlim atm, but we only get 6-8MB at our distance. Thus a good idea to go to O2 for the 8MB service and save over £10pcm compared to be*. Plus Quidco :D

Also, how can you migrate from be* to O2, apparently it is very easy with O2 being the parent company ?

Cheers

im seriuosly looking into changing our broadban from BT but not ure where to go to, how good is 02 broadband and has anyone had any problems with it.

Is there anyone here on the home access package having latency issues.

yup, been having issues since december, told by o2 that its due to congestion and they are updating my exchange on Jan 11th.

have you tried the pings at various times, if not best to try work hours during the week (half 9 ish to 4), early evening during the week (when people are likely to be having their tea and not using the computer), late night or very early morning.

i've checked during those times, sometimes its fine, works around 40-60ms, then it will all of a sudden shoot up to 120+ and thats generally it for the night :(.

Hi

z0mbi3

I have been reading the posts about o2. Are you still doing the friends and family deal. I have tried to send a pessage via messenger but unable to send for some reason. i have sent an email direct to [email protected] but i have no idea if this is a valid email address.

Thank you for your time.

Just rang be* up as my mum :D:D:D

Got myself a MAC key and ready to move to O2 for quidco and £7.34 pcm. But the agent did offer a bit of a discount and a reduction to the £13 value package as we can only sync at 6.5MB, bringing it down to £10 pcm.

Tempting but the O2 price saving and quidco will pay for the Sky+ HD monthly sub, and will cover most of the upgrade cost to the HD box.
