Any reason not to upgrade to 10?

If you play eve online or games with similar mechanics might want to hold off on Windows 10 - while moaning about automatic updates someone mentioned they lost a ship in eve the other day due to it while they went afk cloaked and the system restarted for updates automatically.

Is it clearer if eligible for second free upgrade to W10 using same Windows product key if assemble new PC?

My W8.0 key was upgrade version and used with Vista Retail key so it should maintain retail status.

End of the day your going to HAVE to go to windows 10 sooner or later as games becoming increasingly built for DX12. So you might as well get it over with now. I quite like it. Some privacy issues potentially but this video will sort that out

Not eveyone plays games.

I do but I'm stubbornly sticking with Win7 for the time being, my system is working nicely and configured to my liking, can't be ***** messing with it and starting afresh..

There is another option...
Im keeping my Windows 7 HDD exactly as it is and installing 10 on a new drive. So I can boot to either at the drop of a hat depending what I am doing. If 10 really annoys me then I can still use 7. Don't wipe your old drive. keep your options open.

Yeah if/when it comes to it I'll be dual booting 10 (for those games where I have to use it) and 7 for the rest of the time - unless MS sees some sense in the meantime - I've found increasingly Windows update's mechanisms none the less the forced restarts entirely incompatible with my usage. Potential for a nice OS there but urgh does the UI need some work and they really need to put back in options for power users to take more control of the OS (I've just had to put 8.1 back on one person's system as 10 keeps overwriting a working driver with a buggy one since the 1511 update no matter what I do short of breaking the OS and leaving them potentially unsecure - before the 1511 update I could tell it to leave it alone now it ignores that every time there are any new updates for Windows for some reason) without having to resort to nasty hacks that potentially cause other issues.

At least the ones wearing them are not ignorant to the world around them.

Every issue/concern has either been greatly exaggerated or user error at worst has an easy work around.

If you mean ignorant as in getting my facts/information in order before ranting or spewing **** then yes I must be. Funny how I've done close to 80 installs, don't come from an it background yet the only issue I couldn't solve myself inside of 5 minutes was one on my own PC when I swapped mobo. That took 40 odd while I was dealing with MS Support.

People moan over everything, even if w10 was perfect in every single way, it would still have people like you nitpicking or finding fault.

Is it perfect? No
Is it a good OS? Yes
Is it worth dropping w7 for immediately? That's a personal choice that only the user can decide but in the long run then absolutely.

Got to admit I'm still waiting to see fully what Microsoft are tracking with this new OS, anything "free" gets serious suspicion from me. :o

Seems they are tracking more than we thought but still pretty harmless, main priority seems to be pushing bing more and more with cortana.

I will upgrade eventually, just in no rush.

Absolutely! It worries me too...

Whats weird for me tho, is that I can get Cortana on my PC's and Laptops, but I can't get it on my cells out here.

I'd install 10 if I had control over Windows Update and their driver updates. This is the part that annoys me the most. It installs updates whether you want it or not.

Will it still let you use the Windows 7 install with the new Win 10 OS taking over the product key?

I know you can do a virtual install with the same key but was under the assumption that only 1 physical install would work even on the same computer.

If it does work then that would solve my predicament :D

Thank you for putting "Free" in quotation marks.

98% of people seem to have a selective ignorance that Windows 10 is actually free for goodness sake. Well I hate to break it to you but NOTHING is free, ESPECIALLY Windows lmao. One needs to posses a dangerous level of delusion to think Microsoft is giving away their main source of income for free.

It's just paid for by the people who run the various Minerva Initiative programs for any major EPSIS (electronic psychosocial information source), this mainly includes but is not limited to YouTube and Facebook. Their respective EPSIS programs have been running for years and the data is scarily impeccable.

The current step is to turn the actual electronic devices into EPSIS devices, instead of just targeting specific websites. It's one of the many reasons why iPhone batteries still have plenty of power before iOS turns your phone off. iPhones can now be "listened into" even with only residual battery power.

Windows is not Microsoft's main source of revenue, they have something like 16 different billion dollar businesses.

Fair point, but no point getting tied down with nomenclature. Microsoft is definitely big business.

The fact is those other businesses have come after "Windows" and if someone asks you to name something to do with Microsoft chances are it'll either be XBOX or Windows.
