Check out a pool home on Mosa Trajectum, Murcia, Spain.
I haven’t been there for years, but we always enjoyed it, two good Spanish owned bar restaurants within walking distance, and one swish place on site.
25 minutes from the airport, about the same to Murcia city, with more bars and restaurants than you can shake a stick at.
Not a chav in sight, please God it’s still the same, lots of civilised Dutch there on the complex.

The kids will be bored if you take them away from any area that could be considered "chavsville" because there will be nothing to do for them. What I'd do would be to go to Tenerife and stay in Costa Adeje, it's outside Playas Del Americas but it's nicer, you can travel into Americas and then the kids will actually have things to do, but you won't be staying around the busiest area. You can find some where quiet that isn't touristy in the likes of Greece or Italy, but there will be absolutely nothing for a 13, 17 and 18 year old to do, they'll be sat on their phones all holiday trying to connect to wifi. Source: Went to Crete with a couple of 18 year olds last year, nice and quiet, they were bored.

Plus one to this, I think Costa Adeje would work for what you've said.

Get up Mt. Teide for star gazing!

Booked Porto Cristo, two and half hour flight... Accommodation below :) The rooms are huge!

The place has nice sandy coves and caves and stuff for exploring...ITs a working fishing village and hopefully Chav free :p

How about a nice week away in Bradford, Hull or Newport.

I take it that you’re kidding, but having been to all three when I was a truck driver, I’d consider a cyanide pill rather than go to Hull again, and I’d just refuse outright to go to Bradford.
Newport was okay, I used to run transformer oil into Uskmouth Power Station there, I had friends in Caerphilly, and I’d drop the trailer in Newport, and go in the tractor unit to stay with them.
Some minor language difficulties with the locals, but some good pubs there.

How about a nice week away in Bradford, Hull or Newport.

Seconded for Hull, why not opt for hipster chic accommodation by renting a student house for a week. Grafton Street is oozing (literally in some places) with character and is the home of The Grafton pub, popularised by the Beautiful South song Old Red Eyes. The pub can be found easily by waiting until 1am and then heading towards the unforgettable sounds of two middle aged women beating the tar out of each other.

Looking for an educational experience for the whole family? Why not visit Hull's premier water-based attraction and World's first ever submarium (because everyone else just calls them aquariums) The Deep. Peruse the many large tanks where you will be able to see fish, walk through the underwater tunnel where you will be able to see fish, and then head off to our onsite restaurant where you'll be able to dine on, you guessed it, chicken nuggets.

Feeling peckish? Why not stop at one of Hulls fine eating establishments where you can dine on chips and gravy, sausage and gravy, pie and gravy all followed by a generous helping of ice cream (with or without gravy).

Finally, for those who like to party until the early hours, why not pop along to Spiders nightclub, conveniently located on the industrial estate adjacent to both strip club AND casino, and find out the answer to the age old question "I wonder what would happen if somebody painted a youth club black and started serving cans of red stripe".

Visit scenic Hull today.

I jest, I bloody love Hull.

In answer to the ops question I managed to get a stupidly cheap last minute deal to Mauritius, not sure on the price for 5 but might be worth a look.

I'm going to Pefkos next week on half board. Looks pretty nice and less chavvy than the usual places. Won't know until we get there though. It's only the second time we've done a holiday that is more than breakfast included. Last year was Chia in Sardinia, which was absolutely amazing so I'll be surprised if this is as good. Half board allows us to eat breakfast and go out during the morning, then back in the afternoon for a nap and then a paddle in the pool and back for dinner. We never tend to have a big lunch when on holiday as we're full from breakfast. There's nothing wrong going all inclusive if you want an easy, relaxing holiday. I just don't like to be tied down to the resort for the whole day.

Do you get the option to have the lunch included in half board instead of dinner? I've tended to just go to places where breakfast is included, but the past couple of holidays I've spent the morning around the pool or popped to the beach for a swim etc.. and so an inclusive lunch could be useful too... whereas in the evenings I do like to explore and try different restaurants etc..

I did the night trip up there. Got absolutely smashed! Loved it.

In was one of those people turning my nose up at Tenerife for years, then we actually went (north side), and we had a great time.

Even though I did get pulled over by the Spanish police.

I think you have the option of choosing lunch or dinner because they're serving anyway for the all inclusive guests. It has to be dinner for us because we have a 2 year old and having a late dinner out doesn't really work as she goes hyper if shes awake too long, before crashing out spectacularly.

This is where we're staying:

Half board for 4 people including flights through Ba.com was £3300. Quite pleased with that as it got good reviews.
