Any unreal engine 4 editor experts in here?

Problem is you don't have a proper comprehension of the scope of the task.

As someone formerly very active in the quake series modding community I've been here sooo many times heh.

where in this thread have i said it is easy?

lol i know how hard it is lol even when i was messing about with map making on rtcw IT IS HARD.

Maybe start with just a text based game about managing a boxer or something... you go into 3D and it just jumps the workload up exponentially.

I'd recomend to start with a basic mobile phone boxing simulator, something akin to stuff like the Karisoft games or something.

You haven't said what sort of budget you have. You need to write a GDD.

Loving the sport and being enthusiastic will get you nowhere on its own.

Oh look here comes the keyboard warriors lol

Came here to see if a group could get started making a boxing game and end up with a bunch of 5 year olds posting in thread lol not all the post btw.

Oh well back to dreaming of hopefully playing a good boxing game on pc one day.....

Its not that it is hard and neither am I trying to put you off - but there are significant challenges in bringing it all together so that each person knows what and how they are contributing.

Saw it time and time again in modding communities - you'd have someone with some great ideas, some talented programmers level designers, modellers, etc. but there was a disconnect between them all without someone who knew how to bring it all together and move it forwards.

I for one, would love a boxing game on the PC, now, wheres my tutorials for creating it :p
I would love to learn to be able to create games, always have, and if you learn anything from anywhere, feel free to contact me so i can learn to, i would love to make a game, especially a boxing game as i personally think there would be a ton of £££ in it, but personally id just like to see a good boxing game.
Unless your rich and would like to start paying devs, have a look at getting some people interested in learning and do it together :p let me know!

Mate, no offence. Your' idea for a game might be a decent one. Trying to make a game as in depth as you talk about in your first post however, would take a large team of experienced game developers at least 2 years to make and that's with a large budget. No one was being a keyboard warrior or acting like a 5 year old in the thread.

Do you actually know what a keyboard warrior is? Just because you're being told something you'd rather not read, it doesn't make people keyboard warriors.

Based on your initial post, you are vastly underestimating what it takes to make the sort of game you want.

Agreed. People are just being realistic about what you are asking. You are essentially asking to be a team leader with no proven team leadership skills in this field. You could offer no input into the coding, audio or art from what you say. Only a vision. And yet you have not to date put that vision into a coherent form for the team that you wish to assemble. Any team you do assemble would rightfully ask - what are you bring that I can't do myself. To date you've demonstrated no suitable answer for this question.

For a start I've linked on the previous page two things. One a more appropriate engine for you to use on such a product and secondly .bvh files for you to work with. Like I said back there if you can't recognise the value of these then you need to be asking serious questions about whether you are wasting other peoples' time.

My advice.

Download Unity.
Download Blender.
Download the BVH.

Follow Unity basic tutorials.
Follow Blender basic tutorials.
Learn how import Blender files into Unity.
Youtube Blender Model Human
Youtube Blender Rig Human
Look at Unity Animation
Read up on .bvh import.

After you've done that re-evaluate what you want to do but from a position of at least some knowledge of what you are doing. At the very least you will have learned a few things.

thats being jockys ;) aka KBW now thats not advice so there for the warriors come out lol

there we are gonna leave it there now :)

That's not being keyboard warriors  The "jockys" bit went over my head. A keyboard warrior would be someone typing in an angry or threatening fashion. The posts above were just jokingly taking the ****. Get a grip.

Application for the Position of Project Lead.

Strengths:

Ability to detail and document a clear vision.
Open to constructive criticism.
Ability to discern useful information whilst disregarding the irrelevant.
Expansive knowledge of the development process.
Clear ability to communicate the reason and methodology of tool choice.

Just saying ...

...and also offering some legitimate, useful advice. If you want this boxing game made so much, go make it yourself. The tools are out there for basically anyone nowadays, so go ahead and get started, nothings stopping.

Oh, and being the supposed "leader" (ideas guy), calling people who are just trying to teach you some sense "keyboard warriors" isn't gonna get you anywhere/turn people off.
