Anybody up for encoding an AVI experiment?

I'm having trouble trying to install this.
I've downloaded the Encoder and installed ATI Multimedia Centre but nothing seems to be working.
Any help appreciated.

i had problems too mate! Grrr....

had to remove anything ati from control panel then install the newest drivers 7.6's and the 7.6 version of avivo, the package was called something with xcode in it.

Then it must be accessed through the basic menu, which is a pain!

Hope that helps :)

you need to all use the same software same version and same OS otherwise its a pointless benchmark.

Not really.
I'm forming quite an opinion from these results so far.
Basically upgrading from my P4 3.6 isn't going to give significant results.

how was yours faster than mine, did you adjust the settings in the program, I only got 40 seconds when I set it to quicker export settings.

i used default settings.

im using the latest version of vso and the app gets quicker at encoding each version.

failing that , i dont know. , give your comp a kick then retry. :)

did a better test on mine now

encoding a standard 350mb episode of your fav american shows

6 and half mins to encode plus what ever time needing to burn it to dvd

this is using nero, ill do a few test on other pieces of software soon

Great thread i always thought vso one was good but i never knew about winavi and how much faster it is and going to deffo look into the ati one too.

I have used a few converters in the past and have found WinAVI to trully use both cores of the processor.

I can convert a 700mb avi to dvd in roughly 14mins including remixing the vobsub.

Gone are the days of leaving the PC on overnight just to convert one film :p

Which version of WINAVI should i be downloading to be able to convert an avi file to DVD?
