Looking to change my forename ( Dav) I just hate it

Does anyone know what is the best place to get the name changed to David no one call's me Dav, my friends and even my parents call me David.

I would need to change all my details ie
passport, driving licence, bank account and credit cards, tax and National Insurance records.

Whats the best place to get it done, there are a few places on the net

Don't really see the point. Everyone (inc. parents) call me Mat but my name is Mathew.

Not going to change my name, not worth the hassle.

I used to work with a guy called David who changed his name via deed poll (iirc) to Tyler Rokks!

I've done it.

Go to a solicitor with your passport ss proof of ID they'll type up an official change of name deed and sign it.

That document is your proof and you use that to get new passport/bank details, etc.

I've always been known by my middle name, some mates call me by my first name for a laugh though. I wouldn't bother changing it if I were you, you should never choose to be mundane.

You will need to change your bank details, mortgage details, everything... are you that self absorbed?!

As said, why bother? If everyone calls you david (or dave or whatever), including your parents, then whats the problem?

Just sign official stuff as "dav"

My name has a stupid spelling, people either spell it wrong or say it wrong. In the grand scheme of things it hardly matters

Thats another thing, no-one ever spells my name right first time. if by accident they get my first name right they muck up my surname

My maiden name was a nightmare, Estdale. no one EVER spelt that right! Im considering keeping my married name just so I dont have the hassle of two daft names!
