My dad's called David, called Dave by everyone... except my mum who calls him David. So I doubt he'd be allowed to change to Dave...

If you were to change your name would you have to change your certificates aswel(A Levels, GCSE, Diploma,etc.?) That would be a real hassle right?

Btw I'm not thinking of changing my name but have always wondered.

A change of name deed lists the date at which it became your name, prior to that you have your birth certificate.

We decided to call the new guy at work "Gary" on his first day, rather than his real "Dave". He was too nervous to question it... It stuck

Two of my uncles are called Dave, my younger brother is called Dave, my middle name is David, I somehow managed to acquire the "nickname" Dave in college, one of my best mates is called Dave and I used to call a guy at uni Dave, Dave Lister.

Strange. I have a mate called Gaz whose name is David.

Thats cos he looks like Gary Speed.

Another friend called Jez/Jeremy bears a resemblance to Ron Jeremy, so he gets called Ron by all our student house. I like renaming people
