This is what I did when I got rid of my father's name after my parents divorce. I didn't want to keep his name so I got rid of it and the middle name 'Allister' which was a way of getting my Mum's maiden name into my name was photoshoppedGoatboy said:I've done it.
Go to a solicitor with your passport ss proof of ID they'll type up an official change of name deed and sign it.
That document is your proof and you use that to get new passport/bank details, etc.

Marc came about because my maternal grandmother wanted me to be called Marc and not Matthew; also my full name at birth was 'Matthew Allister Russell Caldwell' which makes MARC. So I became 'Marc Russell Lister'.
You don't have to. I changed my name at 18 years old having already gotten my GCSE certificates. My exams officer said it'd look weird having GCSE's in one name and A-levels in another so I didn't bother getting those changed.jesta said:If you were to change your name would you have to change your certificates aswel(A Levels, GCSE, Diploma, etc.?) That would be a real hassle right?
Btw I'm not thinking of changing my name but have always wondered.

Incidentally Richard Clarkson at Uni also calls me Dave, for the same reason as you SiriusB.
