Had my first track experience day recently and drove a Turbo and a Cayman. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and admittedly being naive when it comes to high performance cars I was surprised. Even in 6th gear it would go like a bloody rocket from about 2,000rpm. The Cayman needed to be rev'd hard to get the performance, the Turbo was absolutely and utterly savage.
I'd be really interested to hear from people who have driven the other elite Porsches (GT2/GT3/GT3 RS) how they compare. I'd imagine the GT3 drives similar to the Cayman and the GT2 is just outright ridiculous.
I wasn't really that impressed by the Cayman. The only other high performance car I drive on a regular basis is an E90 330d which would have course feel quick because of the torque. Also had a passenger lap in the Mazda 3 MPS which covered ground quickly, gave a greater sense of acceleration than the Cayman despite being slower on paper.
Anyway great experience and I can no longer talk about supercars with pure ignorance
