Anyone else feel like they have spent way too much?

I spent around £8,000 on a 2 week holiday for my girlfriend and I to Sanya this November.

Invested £40,000 in stock on China Everbright Bank and £23,000 on 1KG 9.999 gold bar back in March this year.
 
The only things I bought this year are a car worth £1,150, insurance worth £1,700, car MOT, tax and service which I forget the cost. I have already saved for next years insurance so just petrol to keep paying.
 
I've been working full time for 6 years now and my savings balance is a grand £261! :D Now that I think about it, that's somewhere in the region of £120,000 in expenses over 6 years!??! :eek: Certainly doesn't feel like I've spent that much since I live at home and don't drive :|

Currently selling most of my unnecessary tech so I can buy a few self-presents for the new year (rebuilding my pc, new tv, ps3, room refurb, etc). Then gonna try to save as much as possible in 2011.

spent loads this year

new house + renovation costs, tools, holiday to aus, nz & singapore, xbox360

next year will be a lot more renovation costs + new appliances, furniture, diving trips

Flights... way too much! Not back in the US til the 27th unfortunately. I want 75 degree December weather! I doubt you're getting that sort of weather though!
 
No, make sure I spend under what I can afford so I don't make threads like this :D lol [not saying you don't, just saying by me spending under what I can afford I am more comfortable with]

I don't earn an awful lot, so the £3000-£4000 was a lot for me, but I'll be saving more money this year, now that, hopefully, the expensive stuff is out of the way.

My friend, I can assure you that whatever riches I attempt to acquire, life (and the girlfriend) has this way of keeping you down. It's been trench warfare the past 5 years. It's only now that I'm starting to see a few pennies extra. Not a lot mind you.
 
Have been pretty sensible this year and lived to my monthly budget of £550-£600...only bought myself a proper TV, amp and speakers. Also got my mum and brother a new 32" TV for Xmas - so not all on me.

TOTAL EXPENSES: £6600
TOTAL SAVED/INVESTED: £12,500

Decided to take some risk and invested in a stocks and shares ISA and physical assets...so saved around 60% of income (nearly £1.8k of that is interest/growth)
