Played the first one for no more than 20 mins. Installed it, couldn't get used to the huge character model and third person view with keyboard and mouse, uninstalled it.
The first one started off extremely well and introduced some great concepts (those cherubs...) but became repetitive and predictable quickly towards the mid-point in the game. I too am about to begin playing the sequel and I'm not looking forward to it because I fear it'll be more of the same thing.
Agree with this dude. Why waste hours on a game that you don't find fun/interesting?
You can read about the story on Wikipedia. I just saved you 8 hours, enjoy.

I used to be the same as the OP but there is that many games out now that I refuse to play games I think are just OK or below average
Have you considered you could be a online gaming addict?
I find it hard personally to play single player games when online gaming is much more fun and different all the time.
Sadly I didn't get time to be bored as the FOV was literally unplayable, I had to give up on the first level it was that bad.
