Anyone else hate eating at restaurants?

I eat at Nandos with 8-10 other people. We scoff our faces and have a blast of a time.

That's how you do it :D

We don't "normally" eat at other restaurants because the same food (but better tasting) is cooked in our homes anyway :p

Thinking about it, it's been ages since I was in a restaurant which had either fat people or children. The last time when the waitress put children at the table next to us I asked to be moved and duly was, several tables away.

OP's clearly going to the wrong places.

It all depends on the restaurant, sometimes it can be really awkward, especially if you are made to feel rushed or the waiter/waitress can't understand you or is rude etc.

I would much prefer to entertain at home and cook something myself.

I would agree with the first two were it the case, but generally I'm not staring at other people eating and they are not staring at me! Else I'd probably end up with most of it on my cheek than in my mouth. It is nice when it is just you and the missus or whoever though.

I love eating at restraunts.

I go to restaurants and just stand in the middle to watch people. I don't eat, I don't even sit down. I just stand, eavesdrop and stare.

So yeah I quite enjoy it. Other people, probably not as much..

Does anyone else think eating at restaurants is over-rated? I don't know anyone who doesn't love it. I hate having to pretend I'm enjoying myself when I'm obliged to go out to eat.

  • I don't like strangers watching me eat.
  • I don't like watching strangers eat, especially fat ones.
  • Food is over-rated, I mostly want to fill my belly I don't really care what it tastes like as long as it's healthy. I don't like the idea of eating for entertainment.
  • I don't like spending a lot of money on something that I'm just going to poop out.
  • I don't like having to tip people just for doing their job.
  • They usually give you too much food and it gets wasted.
  • It's usually too loud, too dark, or too crowded.

Oh yeah and here everything is horribly over-seasoned and over salted to appease these diabetic land whale's diminished sense of taste from years of masturbatory gustation.

  • How would you even know? Don't look at them... strong insecurity.
  • Stop being nosey?
  • INCORRECT.
  • Weird... who doesn't like food? Also earn more money if you're worried at the price of a meal.
  • You don't have to tip anyone.
  • Order a girl portion.
  • CRYCRYCRYCRY

I love it. It's one of those pleasures in life that is most enjoyable. I like the ambience, like the food, enjoy having things that I would not normally eat at home. If I could afford it I'd do it more often or nearly every day! :)

Food is for nutrition and not for entertainment as much as:

sex is for procreation and not pleasure,
drinks are for hydration and not entertainment,
reading is for education and not for entertainment,
media is for information and not for entertainment,

one would wonder if one simply exists or lives.

I love food, but not the sort where its all tarted up, i love a nice meal cooked properly, not sauce drizzled all round the plate but not on my food.

Wow your a laugh a second i bet...feel sorry for any woman who has the mis-fortune of ever getting involved with u, unless your married or with someone then my sincere condolences to them:(.

Personally i love eating out, ill usually go out with the lads for a ncie meal and when i was with my ex fiancee, we always used to go out fri or sat for a meal....you dont need to spend an absolute fortune to have a decent meal...ive had some lovely meals for less than £30 for 2...result.

But your as stupid as they come kwerk....either that or your an extremely good troll.

OP clearly has social issues. The 'eating in front of other people' problem means he has some kind of disorder or other. The only people I've known who've had that issue have had social anxiety/panic attacks/ana/some other thing. The large, large majority of people have no problem eating in front of others.

When people are waiting for their food and drinks to arrive they often just sit there and watch other people and see what their are eating, eavesdrop on their conversations, etc. Old people are the worst. Just pay attention next time your out.

I have no problem eating I just don't like strangers watching me do it.

And as for portion sizes I live in America where they bring you 3 or 4 different plates full of food to satisfy the lowest common de-nom-nom-inator (fatties).

Come to think of it there is one place I really enjoy eating at and that's small non-chain hamburger places and diners. Nothing beats a really good slice of cherry pie and and coffee in one of those places on a rainy morning. 100% pretentious free environment. Maybe it's a city vs country thing. I can't stand smug, fashion obsessed, effete, self-righteous big city people and all their over-rated stupid BS, which basically describes 95% of the UK.
