anyone going to next weeks protests?

nope slow erosion of your rights over the past 10 years.

Really, is that so.

I can eat what I want, watch what I want, say what I want, look at what I want to on the internet, I can drive where I want and I can voice my opinions on whatever I want.

This whole erosion of rights thing is BS. Try living in China, then you'll see how good we got it when it comes to rights.

freedom to do what you want when you want without anyone telling you what you need to do.

Oh yes because the world would be such a better place if we could do that.

Everyone doesn't have your "view" about how the country or world should run. Even if we did get it "perfect" there would still be people who would try and change that and if we stopped them then that sort of goes against what you been trying to do doesn't it.

I agree that people should protest, we should protest a hell of a lot more about things rather than drinking tea and tutting over the newspaper. I don't agree with the destruction of property. One year the statue of Churchill was vandalised, an absolute disrespect to the man who lead this country though it's hardest time. It's just a movement of people who pretend to care because they have nothing constructive to add to society.

Most of the people protesting this week won't be the kind of anti-capitalist/anarchists who defaced the statue of Sir Winston (which was totally unacceptable). They will be just ordinary people like you and me who are unhappy with the way the economy has been mismanaged (by both governments and banks). Perhaps they have lost their jobs or homes because of the credit crunch.

Me? I'd like to go but unfortunately I have to work next week (if I want to keep my job).

Infact your internet is also blocked, and the process is speeding up, theres a lot of things you dont know and would be shocked.

Like I have said, I have no issue with people protesting, I don't agree with people rioting and destroying property. I think I have made that pretty clear.

Do you really think that if we "knew" then we would be able to do something about it? Change what is happening? "Improve" our quality of life?

Most of the people 'protesting' are going to be misinformed about something or the other. It appears that most of them are just people bitter at being selected out of the labour market by the market system. It's up to the individual to possess the relevant skills to maintain their employment in whichever industry.

It's not about what you say its about democracy, if you can't see it then you've been brain washed. One day you'll wake up and a number will be stamped, you'll look back at the days when you had a chance to chance things.

Well said mattheman. The characterisation of the protesters as disrespectful, unwashed, unemployed, vandals isn't accurate. Just another example of people on the Internet mouthing off on subjects they don't know much about.

Did everyone else just miss this bit:

the you dont know anything about protests, most of the time its undercover agents that start the riots.

Please take your conspiracy nonsense away from these forums and stick to your own. If anything you claim was really true then the general public would know about it, not just a handful of "against the government" people.

Could you inform me of the last big conspiracy that came to light and was finally revealed? You can't honestly believe such large occurrences are going on unnoticed by the general population.

Everything you've said in this thread (and the majority of your other posts) are speculation and you provide no proof other than what you've heard/read on a conspiracy website.

Well, you can't necessarily look at what you want on the internet, aside from cleanfeed which blocks child porn (and album covers too apparantly), there's the extreme porn laws which make it illegal to posess images the prudish government doesn't like despite the depicted acts not being illegal themselves and victimless. Also you can be arrested for writing stories (though that law is quite old), and arrested for racial hatred for not liking a religion.

What's blocked on the internet? What are you talking about?

This is some serious tin-foil hat time.

Generally the more unsavoury porn and terrorist based stuff, but that doesn't remove the fact the internet is censored, who knows what sites may disappear "accidently" because the administration at the time decide they don't want it?

The Virgin Killers album cover did.

Not really. That law got seriously neutered. You'd have to really be out to incite violence or whatever to get caught by it.

I hope so, it was only in Nov 2006 that Nick Griffin was brought to trial.

if everyone looked after number one, you wouldnt have the freedom you have now, but as each year goes by you have less.

Come back and moan about "your freedoms" when you face imprisonment against your will indefinitely without trial, parole or appeal based on what you say in weekly interviews.

until then STFU.

What terrorist stuff is blocked? Also, please show me evidence that any otherwise legal site has been removed just because the government didn't like it. For the record, the fact that we don't know about any such activities is not evidence that those activities are happening but being covered up.
