Anyone have a green laser?

i dont think they're illegal, are they? the british army use them.

The British army uses M16 assault rifles too, but that doesn't mean they're legal for public use, or that you won't have problems importing them.

Knowing someone who was partially blinded in her left eye from someone else's careless (...note - not malicious) use of one of these things, I can't say I particularly approve of them. Why on earth do you need to engrave leather or pop balloons with a laser?

As already mentioned, even a weakly-reflecting surface is sufficient to cause retinal damage in passers by (or yourself), with 35mW+ lasers. 1 or 2mW lasers are more than sufficient for any practical purposes.

it can only blind if it hit the cornea directly and for more than a fraction of a second and on top of that it needs to be close up

Do you have a scientific basis for this assumption, or did you just pull it from the old rectum of truth?

Also, permanent eye-damage is not the same thing as permanent blindness.

outdoor will be at the woods or shining it at the hills or in the sky ect, it can only blind if it hit the cornea directly and for more than a fraction of a second and on top of that it needs to be close up

What if theres people in the woods or on the hills that your shining it at?
Are you a chav?

no i am not a chav, and there will be people on the hills im shining at but this is a pocket sized laser it cant blind anyone on a hill 3 miles away

Don't forget about animals too. Birds and other small animals could be harmed much quicker then a human would with the laser.

Im confused why would you be shining it at a hill though? what purpose does this activity serve?

your very clever NOT.
It's pointless waste of money, as well as being classed as a weapon if caught by the plod.

He's only a baby and knows no better. Perhaps he needs to blind himself or somebody else to realise, what's the point!

yes infact they do, to be a optition you need certifications in physics, im studying physics at the moment at a-level

No, physics is physics. No biology is used. If you want to do medicine or other such areas then you need both physics and biology training.

ok, i want this laser because it is a useless gadget that will amuse me, i asked if anyone had one not did anyone approve of me purchasing one. i for one am sick of being criticised on this forum by people who love to argue.

You're doing A-Levels, but you don't yet understand associative logic?

... If all ripe tomatoes are red, are all red things ripe tomatoes?

Clearly biology relies somewhat on phyics. There is a trickle-down effect from pure mathematics, through theoretical physics, down to biology, chemistry and engineering. This effect, of course, does not go both ways.
