Anyone into Gundam (or Gunpla)

Younger brother's been buying a few of these kits recently, he got a rather large Zaku II (his favourite gundam mech) model for christmas:)

Almost finished this one (HG Origin MS-06S), still got his machine, bazooka and axe to do. Who doesn't like a massive rifle?

I have the Origin HG RX-78-2 Gundam to with him and then the RG versions of both, the MG Buster Gundam and a the EG RX-75 Guntank added to my pile for Christmas.

As soon as things settle for shopping I am going to get a shelf and redo the space above my desk, so I have some display space. Might need to get a longer ethernet cable for the router and move the plugs so it can go higher up.

Nice. I ordered a couple more HG's from Aliexpress. Might get a display cabinet in a month or two....especially when I start building the MG/PG models

I would love a nice glass display case but we don't have the room (thanks family Lego :p).

I am going to build up to the MGs and RGs so I can improve my cutting technique. I can get some pretty clean 2nd cuts but it varies due to eye sight and hand shakes.

The cheap set of headband magnifiers I got on Temu discount have been a boon to my hobby life but I see things I wouldn't notice without them.

That looks awesome! I am close to picking up my first kit... I know I'll end up with a huge stockpile once the flood gates are open haha

Ha, yes my interest went from curiosity to a wishlist of about 80 things (a few tools in there too). Not happening but it's nice to have options .

I have just learnt of the godhand nippers... this is going to be my war hammer obsession all over again haha

I got mine from Japan through buyee (a shipping service) through Mercari (Japanese eBay), for 6900 yen. About £40.

More faff and takes a bit longer but it's £55 on Amazon.

Or you can try direct here.

With that's pushed me over the edge haha, these are going to be ordered whilst I fill out my basket with cool looking zaku!

I would love a pair of Godhand nippers but the way I drop things they wouldn't last long. I got a pair of the high end Stedi ones for £24 on offer and they pretty good. I have various old ones and a couple of cheap ones from Amazon that can be used for full sprue cuts.

I've not used godhands but do have dspiae's clone and they're great. They do a amazing job of not stressing spur for almost no cleanup. And are far nicer to use than a knife. Dspiae's tools generally have been excellent although there are some that are a bit of a scam / chiense bulk ordered I feel.

I have a few boxes still waiting to be built including a RG Unicorn base limited from tokyo. Was great seeing the lifesized version lightup and transform.

That was the clippers that I had in my Amazon basket for ages before I discovered the Godhands are basically the same price when purchased direct from Japan.

I am taking a bit more time with this one as I work up through the ranges and number of parts in the kits. Getting some pleasing results with a basic set of Gundam Markers and some cleanup. I would be stuffed trying to do this without a 3.5x magnified headset.

Looks like the gold didn't settle properly on the left eye before assembly, so I will touch that up with a brush.

Looks really sharp and clean

Thanks, the clean up took a while on the head. I am getting quite good at using q-tips to clean up and fade the lines, then a very small amount of IPA to clean up the stubborn bits or smudges. Most of mess comes from badly timed hand tremors or shakes.

Oh dear, this could be a problem. A convergence of hobbies!

An official Gundam minis game using 50mm ish models. Even if the rules aren't great, the minis look very nice for alt rules systems.
