Anyone just given up on looking for a new GPU?

When I did try a Nvidia GPU I too felt the driver panel was not great, had been an AMD GPU owner for lengthy while. I'm also getting the stomach churning looking at current GPU pricing. At present just planning to sell my current GPU, hold on to the money as long as I can to snag a new GPU. Dunno how long I'll last! :D
I did that last gen and look at the situation now ! You would be better off keeping your gpu at least you will have a workable pc that games at lower settings i did this for over a year have prices improved ? I think your in for a very long wait :(

I've come to the conclusion even if pricing is nuts I may not be actually too bad off. Worst case after flogging current, adding say a ton or so could get me circa +40% performance. In the past I've put double the amount for some what half the performance gain.

Well... I've had £600 saved up for a while now for a GPU upgrade. But unless I can drop on something like a FE 3070ti for MRSP then I'm not going to bother. I'm sure my 1080ti will cope for another year or so at 1440p with a G-sync monitor (rhetorical comment).

I most certainly wont pay scalper prices for something like say a 3060ti ! Obviously up to individuals if they are happy (or feel they need one and have to swallow the price/s etc.).

If I can't pick something up at a sensible price. Then I think that I will use the money to do an Alder lake rebuild. Would only need a processor (the i5-12600k is looking good) and a decent mobo (easily in budget). Everything else can be re-used (not bothered about DDR5 at the moment). Even my noctua nh-u14s should be up to the job of cooling the i5-12600k (Noctua will even supply a fitting bracket etc. for free for Alder lake). And having a retail key for Windows 10 will allow me to do a new Windows 11 install. Happy days.

Strange times we live in to be honest (GPU wise }. TBC

Are you using the telegram app for drop notification?

I struggled for ages to the point of giving up, then someone mentioned the above and I bought a 3080TI at the last drop. Just get everything ready beforehand and it's relatively simple.

Thanks for that. But think that I've now decided to do the Alder Lake re-build early next year and I'll look at the next gen of graphics cards. At least a mid range card by then will give me a decent boost from the 1080ti (IE. no need to go top end).

I'm with you there.

My X5650 is still more than capable of running modern games well, but the lack of an AVX instruction set is starting to make itself felt.

I can't run AOE IV without it, and I now feel it's time to upgrade, and a 12700K(F) is calling.

I've already written the 3 series out, and will look to get a 4070 (as long as it has at least 12GB) when available.

You bought a £1200+ card, what does that say about the state of our currency?
I'm betting you didn't want to spend so much on a GPU?

Just managed to get some cash for a new gpu I wanted an rtx 3070ti but pricing on ocuk is way above msrp and I only have £600.

Looks like I will be gaming on my series x for a while

What group is it on Telegram?
I can get a staff discount in vouchers on the site that sounds like a Takeaway.
However, Everytime a 1080 or 1080TI shows up, the next time I look they have gone.
Either a system glitch or scalpers are quick.

Don't fancy being stuck with £1.5k of vouchers. Likewise don't want to pay £200 extra everywhere else.
Anyways, now I've done wafffling. Could I have details how I see when the FE cards drop.

I'm now stuck on what to build. Was going with 5900x and 3080, however Adlerlake has shook things up and hopefully prices will drop come Black Friday

I would be interested on knowing when the next FE drop is
Probably more than a week away as the last one was 29th Oct. Still, dates and timing is pretty random.

Still not got one as the drops are during the working day and I'm general busy and can't just drop everything to buy one in the first 2 mins

Is there any pattern to it like set days ect?? I am fortunate that my job allows to have my phone on me at all times so occasionally checking their website isnt a problem for me

Not that I can see from the notifications on the group. My guess is that they keep it quite random.
