Anyone just given up on looking for a new GPU?

I'm looking for a 3090 ideally, or 3080, but I refuse to pay scalpers, don't want to feed the wheel.

Yeah I get that I wouldn't want to either but the way I would justify it is. You have all those lovely parts sitting there doing nothing and it could be that way for 2 years.

So what if you pay £300-£400 extra and use them now.

Over 2 years that equates to nothing. Is it really worth saving a few quid not to enjoy all that lovely hardware you have?

Personally I'd just get a 3070 going to suffer less depreciation. If you are looking at 3090 then I'd be even more inclined to say just do it already the type of folk who really buy those cards don't really care about a few quid.

You're probably right, and I can see myself giving in eventually, but for now I'm hoping I get lucky and snag one.

I'm just salty as I bought a 3090FE months ago but sent it back, as couldn't justify the price at the time. I won't forget that mistake!

I'm probably late to the party here, but just looked on the online auction site for a laugh and can't believe that people are ripping cards out of pre builts and selling them. Ridiculous state of affairs that RTX3080's from pre built systems are fetching 1200-1400+

I've not given up looking as my gtx 660 runs like crap, I've just come to the realisation that my chance of getting a 30 series card in 2021 at a price I can afford is zero

I've been WANTING one for about 2 years but refuse to overpay and especially to scalpers.
I still don't really NEED one as my overclocked and water-cooled RX480 is holding up great. I bought it used about a year ago just before prices sky rocketed for about £130, an upgrade from my 4GB version to 8GB vram and the full cover water block.
I would like to get a 6800XT later this year when (hopefully) it gets back to normal.

I've sort of given up, been aiming at 3060/ti/6700xt, but to actually be able to get it is another story. Missed this public drop of 6700xt. So got myself 2060, still a nice upgrade from a 970. Not that I need anything stronger really. First I wanted to wait perhaps 2 more weeks, hoping for another forum drop, and maybe be lucky, but seeing that even these 2060s are disappearing changed my mind.

Anywhere I've looked at pre-builds with RTX 3xxx cards in them, Just out of curiosity really, I'm not actually looking to upgrade from my 2080, they're only available for 'pre-order' with no actual date of delivery, so its not as if a pre build is a quick fix to the problem.

I've been refreshing this forum for the past 12 days, hoping to catch the next batch of 'almost at RRP' deals when they launch.
Missed the last one as i was refreshing the members market by mistake, didn't realise the other deal would be here.

Yes, they seem to come and go in batches and depends where you go and look for them. I've seen most stock available with resellers that pre stock up and sell until they've gone. It's an odd market to work out as a 'blind' consumer. I recently purchased a Series X and that was an experience and a half.

I would rather go without than pay these prices only want a 1650 or 1650 super not paying £250 for that card

One of OCUK's competitors got a batch of 3090s at midnight the other day. They were all gone within 10 minutes.

I had a look not too long ago and you can't even get those anywhere!

I have a Radeon 550 2 Gb in my backup rig that I found for £53 a while ago.

Just had a quick google search and the only one of those I could find in stock now is £150 lol. Budget card no longer.

LOL GT1030 - £105.

Yes, a grim situation where the retailers are smiling at the end of it and a lot if customers are left without a card.

Unfortunately, it's scapling causing the issue. People buying cards and listing them on said sites for 4 times the cost. Some are bulk buying it like this. Also suppliers are holding back stock for their own marketing.

They is no shortage as such, because if you want to buy a card you can easily get one, if you pay scaplers which I'd say don't.

Look at the PS5, sold out in every shop yet, plenty on said auction scapling sites.

OEM build Stock still seems limited at most retailers but I reckon if you NEED a 3000 series GPU buying a pre-built system is pretty much you're only option right now other than going to eBay. Your chances of getting a RRP retail GPU at the moment are basically non-existent as far as I can tell.

Probably not much more expensive buying a whole new system then paying scalper prices !

Edit: yeah, just had a look on eBay and used RTX 2000 / 3000 prices are eye watering and seem to be getting worse every week I check
