Anyone just given up on looking for a new GPU?

I almost bought a prebuilt with a 3080 strix, it worked out the GPU was costing £1200ish, still less than they are second hand.
The problem is that people started buying prebuilt and reselling the rest to keep the GPU. So the shops had to increase their prices too.

The shops did not have to because they were selling more, they most likely increased the prices because the GPU that they use in the pre-built costs more now.

I thought prebuilt systems were still an option? Obviously in normal times I'd always say build your own but these are very different circumstances...

They absolutely are but they wanted to build their own because it is far cheaper and you would have more cash for your GPU. For a grand, up to the release of the 30 series, you could have had a 3600 system with a 2070S for a grand. Totally affordable (in the scheme of things where people have money to buy PC's) Now you can't get a 3060ti for less than £1000 unless you are lucky enough and manage to snag one at the current Manufacturers price (Unicorn founders @ £369).

Hmm can see why no more drops for forum members when they sell out that quick at that price
I genuinely wonder who is buying them at that price.

I imagine some will still end up on the bay, so chancers will make up some of those sales. Miners? I didn't think the 6000 series were all that great for mining.

Surely gamers aren't buying 6700 cards for £700.. well, some must be but surely most gamers would be too smart to spend that sort of money on a mid-range card..

Depends if you have a stack of bits lying about because you bought parts on the premise that you could order a GFX card. Remember there are hundreds if not 1000's on this site waiting for their cards from September/October preorders.

This is the issue right here.

"Desperate" or not, people are idiots if they pay that price for a 3060Ti :p I mean, if money is no object, buy a 3090 instead. But £1k for a xx60 class? LOL, what a muppet.
