Anyone just given up on looking for a new GPU?

This is (partly) why I'm in no rush to upgrade my ancient 1080p monitor. That and the state of the monitor market :p

But there would be zero point in a nice new high-refresh 1440p screen and having nothing to drive it (well). Don't think a Vega 56 is quite up to the task.

I purchased an ElectriQ 27" 1440 95hz monitor for £170 and its amazing and looks like my old Dell. The only cons are the stand and the osd menu but I don't use those much and it mounted on a monitor arm.
The actual display is superb.

Don't give up, it's gonna be a long wait for the next generation of cards.

the last 4 generations of cards have released in a two year cycle, 3 of them in September.

on what planet do people think Q1 2022 is going to be the release date for 4000 cards.

if will be Q3-Q4 2022. I don’t see them delaying it to 2023 as recent roadmaps have confirmed 2022.

Strangely enough that's about when TSMC is expected to have it's additional capacity come online.

Things change when RDNA's on your ass. Granted, I didn't expect Q1 '22 either but I think at this point '22 at all is probably overly optimistic.

high end AMD cards look to be even rarer Than RTX, I don’t think Nvidia are quaking in their boots just yet.

Q3-Q4 2022, I’m not a betting man but I would put money on it.

I saw two different cards of 3070s today from competitors selling at £800 and £850 for the supreme. At that price its not even worth it, plus they were all held up by bots anyway.

I'm happy I already have a card but my cousin does not and is always using my PC:o

Yup. You/I aren't getting anything even close to RRP.

There's no point in even looking.

In my case I'm just not prepared to buy over RRP, so not expecting to buy anything anytime soon :p

If you want to pay 2-3x RRP there are cards about :p

Yah, I noticed retailers no longer sell for rrp, they see it fit to all start scapling on prices. Also, I believe that they are also doing anonymous scapling on auction sites using anonymous accounts.

I just can't justify paying £2,800 for a 3090 or £850 for a 3070 (if you win the lottery) more like £1,000 plus.

Truth be told, this is gaming armageddon. Shops can't even sell you a GPU or new gen games console.

Series S is just a lower budget pc?

A lower spec Series X, same operating system as the X. No disk drive. Good bit of kit if you subscribe to Gamepass imo. Supposed to be able to output 1440p, but even 1080p at higher refresh rates would be fine for the money. The SSD prices for the consoles are the killer though.

one thing holding me back from 3080/3070 is lack of 3D support.

2080ti and below can still be hacked with 3D driver support but 3xxx series can't. This forces me to have to have 2 rigs now, one for media playback and one for higher end gaming which is an investment im ready to wait on,

I can't comment on the situation for the big guys, but small retailers cannot sell at rrp, as they get them in from distributors at over rrp. I have seen some figures and 2 small retailers I know are adding less than 4% margin.

I get that, But you can enable 3D SBS through enbseries or the latest similar software for any game.

Crysis 3 can still be played in 3D via SBS in the menu with 3D TV.
