Anyone pre ordered 12600k and z690 board yet?

I am glad I spend wisely £800 on 3700X with Asus Tuf Gaming plus B550 with 2 x Samsung Evo Plus NVMe with 16GB DDR4 3600MHz with 750W PSU with 1050Ti graphic card. I don't play gaming.

Intel are way overpriced and no way over £800 for pc built - just waste of money!
 
For those taking the plunge, what PSU are you thinking of for this system? Sounds like the cpu draws more power than 10th and 11th gen.

1000w PSU still ok do you think? Or is the supposedly power hungry 12900k going to trigger another component requiring upgrade to make the jump to the latest gen? Paired with a 3000 series and if also OCed for example.

Don't forget the 3700X is 2.5 years old now so its going to be cheaper than brand new tech that is just about to release.

I don't think 12900k is more power hungry than the 11900k. Both are around 330w with 5.2 all core OC from what I've seen.
 
Yeah that’s what I read, albeit reported via another site. Hence the question. Unless I am misunderstanding how it works, wouldn’t this make PSU review a consideration? At least, if assuming OCing the chip plus gpu.

Gamer's Nexus will likely cover power and thermals in some depth in the first few days after release.

It's very unlikely you'll have both the CPU and GPU running full power at the same time unless your running prime with low priority and furmark simultaneously.

That's not spending wisely, that's buying what suits your need. I would imagine a lot of the guys on here will game and that therefore changes the needed components and increased costs
