Anyone seeing car insurance pricing increases?

Used hastings in the past and pretty sure I'm with them now (it's either them or aa, can't be bothered to double check lol)... they're fine, can't say I've had issues, but don't think I've ever had to claim from them (touch wood) so no idea how that would go, but I doubt it would be much worse than any other insurer.
Well that went pretty smoothly, my current one (1st central) nearly matched them £812 vs £805. Just gonna let it auto renew next month. Should have email come through later today.

I know it's not a massive amount of money but out of principle I'd move for the 5 minutes needed to set up a new policy.
Not only did you have to spend time messing about asking them to come down in price but then they didn't even match the new one.

I just said I found it cheaper and he said let's see if we can match or beat it. I would have deffo swapped if they longed it out and I had it persuade them.

My car insurance set to go up by £150 by auto renewal. Done a quick quote and found a different insurer which is inline with what I paid last year.

The new one is from Hastings Premier. Anyone used them?

Also can the existing insurer come down or it's set price?

I was with Hastings on my current car, and so was my other half on hers, just had to cancel my policy though, as I've changed car, and they don't appear to cover EVs (they don't even recognise the reg. of any EV I try to quote for, although strangely they DO come back with results via comparison sites )

Been looking at leasing a Tesla Model Y and getting some crazy quotes. Cheapest is £1300 per year. My C63 was less than £500 last year?!

EVs are becoming more common, which means more are being binned. They are very expensive to repair and often require a main dealer or shipping back to the factory. Premiums go up due to unfavourable stats.

Were they good as an insurer?

Admiral Multicar policy renewal came through:
Last year for 2 cars: £646
Renewal: £906

After a quick phone call this went down to £742. Based on comparison prices that’s still the cheapest so we’ve gone for it.

Well that was a fun renewal.

Last year, £520

This years offer, £888

Best on comparison websites, £820

Guy on the phone asks what the cheapest price I could find was, told him £720. As usual he asked which website, I lied and said over the phone offer.

He brings the offer down to £725.

I wanted to pay annually this year, but apparently I would need to speak to a different department later in the week and would need a new quote. Gave up and accepted my ‘saving’.

TTRS. Might buy a banger next time.

Surely you'll get stung paying monthly?
Think my sons actually went down about £100.

A tesla in a minor crash (if leaking ANY sort of fluid.. even washer fluid) will have its high voltage cable cut. They cannot risk it being battery coolant.
if a Tesla has that cable cut.. its pretty much a write off.

Most likely the same for some other EV's which makes them more likely to be written off... higher cost.

Ends up a bit more pricey I guess, but then no comparison website had it cheaper and Admiral seemed to make out it was going to be a faff.
It really shouldn't be. Paying monthly is arguably more of a faff because they presumably have to do credit checks, all paying monthly means is you are effectively taking out a loan and paying interest on it (it's a bit more nuanced than that but basically that's the scenario). They are selling you the exact same product it's just the payment method is different, they obviously want people to pay monthly as they make more money that way, but there's not really an excuse for them saying you need to 'speak to another department later in the week'.

I mean when you run price comparisons you can normally see the monthly and annual costs alongside each other and/or quickly toggle between them, this idea it's going to take days of processing by another department doesn't fill me with confidence about their admin team. I accept that because this is just a random number quoted over the phone that it might not be a quote generated the same way as normal but even so they really ought to be able to offer you an annual premium alongside monthly.

The way the vast majority of policy admin systems work is they calculate an annual premium. All the monthly quote is, is that annual quote but with the interest slapped on top. In other words, I'd be very surprised they can give a monthly quote without having already calculated the underlying annual premium. Pretty sure when it comes to your policy docs they have to clearly state what the cost of the credit anyway i.e. annual premium plus the extra for paying monthly.
