Anyone seeing car insurance pricing increases?

A tesla in a minor crash (if leaking ANY sort of fluid.. even washer fluid) will have its high voltage cable cut. They cannot risk it being battery coolant.
if a Tesla has that cable cut.. its pretty much a write off.

Most likely the same for some other EV's which makes them more likely to be written off... higher cost.

My dad was telling me the other day he had read an article he came across about the insurance on EVs being significantly more than a comparable ICE model - due to things like the battery etc being very expensive.

I guess what you make in savings in one way comes back to bite you another way.

I went from a 10 yr old bmw 320d to an mg5 ev, 20p difference when i swapped insurance.
Yep i had to pay 20p, that must have cost them more to deal with.

My renewal has come through, every year it’s £100-£150 more expensive followed by a phone call which reduces this and beats last years quote by £50.

This year renewal £538 more expensive (This is two vehicles) a call got it down to just over £300 more expensive.

Going to spend some time shopping round and hopefully beat or get near last years annual cost!

My renewal went up from £350 to nearly £700 this year.

Not sure what's going on. Clearly I'll be hunting around, but that's a heck of a leap, for 25 years licence, 0 points, 0 claims, 10+ NCD....

Does anyone use an insurance broker that takes na independent view of entire market?( if such a service exists)

I'm beyond bored of the yearly renewal/quotes/comparison site dance. Would love to just give someone my details and £50 and get back the best possible deal.

?? Ping me your deets and I'll run it through Confused.com for 50 quid

Renewal came in at £150 less than last years estimated annual price for the 135i.

I know I can get it for another £200 less if I shop elsewhere, but Audi insurance have been great so tempted to stay with them.

I use Chris Knott, they were initially recommended in some Alfa Romeo circles but their initial quote in the first year of my Giulia Veloce ownership was extortionate versus what I could get on comparison sites. They then found the best deal magically after sending them screenshots of the comparison sites. They found the cheapest deal for the 2nd year renewal though after I shopped around.

on the subject of car insurance

is it a good or bad thing to have £0 excess to pay ? either voluntary or compulsory ?

My motorcycle insurance went up by about tree fiddy.

No but seriously literally a couple of quid higher.

Even before the changes about them having to offer you the best quite good wouldn't have bothered ringing around.

Was speaking to my bro in law this week about him dreading his renewal after his mates renewal went up from ~2k to 6.5k!

Just got a renewal from Churchill and its gone from £1850 to 2983. No change in circumstance, 10 years NCB, 0 points.

What is going on, how are they justifying these massive increases? I know living in London doesn't help, but daaamnnnnn!
